If it's a 100mph speedometer it will work, but either '94 or '95 was a one year only, I can't remember exactly, and was an 85mph speedo and that won't work correctly.

The voltmeter is a pretty simple swap. It uses a gauge from a square body truck, roughly '78 to 87. You have to drill one hole in the tin mounting plate. Then you take the needle off, it pulls straight off. grind off the 2 rivits that hold the face on, and swap it with the ammeter face from the 67-72. Then put the 67-72 needle on it. I bought a decal for the face with the voltmeter numbers on it, off this site a year or so ago. I had the printer guy who does the speedo faces make me some more. Then you wire the gauge with an ignition wire on one terminal and it grounds through the metal backing plate it's bolted to. You can see how it's wired in the pic above of the back of my speedo cluster.

Are the voltmeter decals available? I want to add this mod to my dash conversion.

I pretty much sold out this stuff to member TBONE1964. You might try contacting him, I know he was selling the complete kit to do the swap. If he doesn't have any I can look around and see if I have any floating around.

I'm pretty sure I have some more kits. As for the 71 Chevrolet, it depends on what speedo it has, if its round or the long sweeping one. For the '59, its doable, but isnt easy. I am actually building a '59 now, I can only wish it was a convertible, but just did the gauges. You can see them in my thread on LS1Tech.

I've read so much my head hurts. I have a couple questions.
1) I'm running a 4.8L with a new style 2006 nv3500, can i run this with my setup?
2) Are you still selling templates or is someone else?
3) Is anyone making a complete kit on here?

1) What year is your 4.8? If its a GenIII then yes, it will work.
2) Yes, I still have them.
3)No one is making a complete kit, but the parts are pretty easy to find.

My 4.8 is a 99 or 2000 I can't remember for sure, the nv3500 is an 06.

4th gen's don't have a dedicated speedo out wire. I have heard you can makes them work by changing the tune on the ABS out signal, but have never personally tried it.

I reread the instructions and am wondering if my speedo is broken or if Im missing something. My speedometer doesnt start to move until 30-35 mph. But then it goes 1 for 1 with actual speed. Its like it is starting at -30mph or something. Is there a certain way to put the needle on the shaft? I just stuck it on there thinking it would sweep the stops to find 0 but it doesnt move when you power it up.

Does the speedo read correctly all the way down to 0 once it starts to work?? If so your speedo needle may be sticking to the rest pin. Mine did this and i had to remove the orange paint i put on the needle. I cleaned it off of the area of contact (on the rest pin) and you can hardly notice the difference.

The needle needs to be put on at 0 mph, with the ignition turned on, this way is the only way to know exactly where the stepper motor is. If it is just randomly put on, the needle will go to where the stepper motor thinks 0 should be. If the needle isn't moving until you get to 35mph, then starts moving, but is 35mph below your actual speed for the rest of the sweep the needle needs to be put on further up.

If the needle isn't moving at all when you take off, but then when you get to 35mph it jumps to that speed, then like 68c10airstream said, it could be the freshly painted needle sticking to the stop pin. I too have had this problem, you will need to scrape the paint off in that area.

I did not paint the needle to keep the patina but I did randomly put it on.

This is the best find of the year for me, Got stuff yesterday, and started on it today.



Some info for the clusters, 94 Is the one year only for the s10 it goes to 85, However the stepper motor assembly is the exact same from 94-97 for Speedo only clusters. IIRC all that is needed to calibrate a 94 cluster for the 100mph sweep is a change of 1 resistor, I will have conformation when I get mine put together when I can piggy back it off my truck and verify with the truck speedo and scan tool.
