It's a 5.3 from the ls family of engines, backed by a 4l60e transmission.

We always run an F-body oil pan, as it isn't nearly as deep as the truck pan. That should take care of your clearance issues with the pavement!

On the rear cossmember. When I can't access the top I have always just cut the whole thing out with a sawzall first, and then worked on the rivets... gives more room this way. An air hammer will make removing those upper rivets a bit easier.

I was hoping I could just drag he pan down to where it needs to be....

F-body pans are either really expensive, or tough to find with all of the components necessary(pickup, screen, etc). I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet on that one.

I'm excited and dreading the rear crossmember tomorrow, I know it's just going to take some serious time to remove those upper rivets. It will definately be worth it when it lays out tomorrow!!!!!!

By the way Nathan Porter has gone above and beyond what anyone needs to do for customer service. He has taken care of me whenever I have had any questions regarding his products. On the F-body pan, you won't need the windage tray, as you can make the one from the 5.3 work.... but the pick-up tube is a must.

Thanks for the advice with the sawzall, those top rivets sucked to get out, but weren't as bad as I thought.

I still have clearance with my truck oil pan, I can maybe slide a book of matches between the oil pan and the ground!

More progress!
I installed Porterbuilt's rear crossmember today, took about 2 hours to get the old one out, and about 30 min to put the new one in. So nice when parts fit correctly!

there was on on CL a few days ago in Sac for 150$ and there is a 63 Long bed at Oakland pick n pull

If it doesn't move and it should, you use WD-40.
