Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I decided the dog dish caps are out so it will be between these 2. I try to dislike that white roof but I just can't. I like the red white and black together .

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Well, there went a chunk of my morning. But a chunk well spent. What an incredible restoration of our favorite GM vehicle, and also a veritable history lesson of other similar period GM engineering. Thanks for that.
As for the roof - this is a TUXEDO truck. I would drive this to the ball in a tuxedo, with Cinderella. Tuxedos need some white. All black is classy yes, but on truck, kind of plain. My humble opinion, and I appreciate your quandry. With your attention to detail, it is not a decision to be taken lightly. Unbelievable work. Looking forward to seeing it done, and maybe in real life some day. Last edited by 72CSCC; 09-03-2016 at 07:03 PM. |

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Got my headliner front sms today. The last piece and it oly took 4 years to get it all. This is the second one done for me as I sent the first one back cause it was the wrong color and grain. This time they sent me 2. Bonus and now it's correct with my other vinyl.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I think I'm going to put a blackcap on the tool box lock so it doesn't break up the smooth look of the mouldings. It will still light up like the door locks.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
How did you get the optic to light up? I quick took an LED flashlight to the end of the optic, but unless it was PERFECTLY aligned, it really didn't light up. Just curious what you did. And thanks for those locks, they will look great on my Burb

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
This is what I'm doing. The relay I am using only let's this light come on when the door handle button is pressed and will stay on for 20 seconds and it will not come on with the interior lights. I am mounting this lens to the very bottom of the door. That way it will come on when the door opens and you can see where your stepping out. It will also have the fiber optic cables and carry light to the locks.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I am going to do something like that on my Firebird with LEDs on the bottom of the door for better visibility.
Those optic cables are much longer than the ones you sent me, lol. OK, I will figure something out. What is that light from? |

That is the only one I have. I may have to source some new optic cables. If I cut it in half it may short as well. The light is a clear side marker from a 73 80 chevy truck. Puts just the right amount of glow out so you can see where you are stepping. |

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I got this mini console out of a 72 buick car. This is not min bUT exactly like it. It has a litter area and holds 8 track tapes. It is 15"" x 8". Not sure how tall. Going to see how it sits on the hump of the truck. The woodgrain would become black textured like the gauge bezel and red. I should get it next week. Well see then if it is out of place. If it is I'll keep it for a car someday... I also might attach it to my full floor mat and make it mount to it so it isn't permanent and can be removed.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
got the counsel today. here is where it would sit. it would mount on the hump when the truck when the 4 speed shifter is gone. might have to add a high hump to put this in. the low hump makes the counsel too low and with the high hump it can move toward the firewall 3" closer.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Got a new restored original suction sup today for my compass. Now it will stick to the windshield like it is supposed to. My original was ripped and wouldn't stick.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
This is kind of how the console would look. There would be no floor shifter and the console would be on the full driver side edge of the hump. It kind of contours the edge of it. Not sure if I like it yet but it would be handy for space.what do you think? Too bulky or nice add?

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
I think it is kind of a nice add, as long as the price is reasonable (sorry, getting in late on this thread). Kind of blocks the heater vent though, but hey, that is ugly anyway. And, if you fill it with frilly stuff for the lady, she might actually want to go for a ride..........
My 2 cents. Craig |

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
If I use it I will alter the heater vent to work properly. I re-keyed the lock already to work with my 67 key as well

Re: 67 GMC super custom build
Anything to update as of late? I've been following along with this build...can't wait to see it in person at a local show! Are you hoping to get it on the road this summer?
