I was going to keep it a secret but since you mention turbo... When I get the 5.3 in I'm going to slap a turbo in there too. I figure if I get the engine worked out I can put the turbo and inner-cooler in later when I can afford it.

That sounds like a sick engine set up. Your compression is a little high for twin turbos but unless you're going to stop driving it on the street and just take it to the track, I'd leave it as is. I love the view from the rear with the fat tires under there.

Thanks. I striped the frame with wire wheels on a grinder, flap discs and elbow grease. A little sand blasting in the tight spots finished it off. It's a lot of work but worth it. I can't wait to paint it. I've had the paint for months. I'm just waiting for the temperature to get back up to 65ish. Stay tuned.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Holy shnitz, I've been out of commission for a while. This is what she looks like as of yesterday. I haven't done much except put the front end back on to start aligning panels, but at least it's not nothing. I also rolled her out for pictures. I had to see how the grill would look so I clamped it on with a pair of vice grips which is why it's angled down at the ground. The front bumper is from a pre-63 and I was unaware when I bought it that the bolt holes don't line up. It's angled at the ground too. I think I'm putting some custom touches on the bumper anyway so it doesn't matter where the holes are. They will eventually be filled so screw it.

Next step is to align everything and then blow it apart to paint the frame and work my way back up. I want to drive it before 2011. It's been torn down for over three years now and I'm getting excited to drive it. I love the stance! Damn.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Thanks Captain. There's no hinges on the hood. It's just sitting on there, shimmed to look like it's lined up. All for motivation at this point. I've been working my ass off and raising a couple kids. It's a grind and sometimes hard to get out to the garage....especially when it's cold out.

glad to see it's coming together still, & it's looking great...i'm a very patient person in general, but i don't think i could be as patient as some of you guys doing restos...i guess in some instances you don't have a choice though, especially when there are more important things in life that come first...keep rolling though, & hopefully you'll drive it sooner than expected

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

Thanks guys. My Dad calls it the Nascar Craftsman truck, because of the wheels I guess. I'm trying to decide on paint. I love the flats on these trucks but haven't decided yet. It might end up being black, gray or silver. I want it to look sinister.

The front of the bed is a little high in this pic but it will be fixed this weekend.

What do you guys think about cutting or shaving off the pinched seam under the rocker? I don't like looking at it down there but it seams like if the truck is dark it disappears.

Re: Shrunken66Stroker's build thread.

That could be done. You would just need to weld your inner rocker to the outer once removed. Maybe do it similar to shaving the drip rail. Remove short sections at a time, while welding the two together. Seeing that lip there sometimes bugs me too.

I was thinking about doing something similar to Strodder with the drip rail but I haven't mad up my mind yet. I might fold it over and blend it with the roof because it always looks strange to me when it's shaved with no overhang.
