Re: Project "Old Aux"

I think the engine is going to be awesome in your truck. I'm more of a chrome engine guy but this really fits the look of your high end factory build.

GVizzle... can't quite tell from the pics, but is the motor painted stock orange? What paint did you use to paint it?

Love the BS trac system up front, and in black, even nicer.

Thanks for the comments...I am very happy with the way it is turning out.

The paint on the block is POR 15 Chevrolet Orange and the black is powdercoat.

I've heard mixed emotions on the POR 15 engine paint... thanks for the tip!

That is was tough to apply especially to a motor due to it being more 'visible' vs. a frame for instance. Did you 'cut' the forumla any so it applied easier, or was it fresh out of the can?

Re: Project "Old Aux"

The POR-15 engine enamel worked well on the rough cast engine block/cylinder head areas,... but looks like crap on the sheetmetal.
(my opinion)
It's too thin, to brush on successfully,... or needs to be sprayed in light coats.

Now I remember... it was the time cover and other pieces that gave you issues.

Thanks for chiming in Keith.

Just the block was painted with that stuff.

Looks like it came out pretty good to me. I have also seen chassis and rear end housings with it and it looked good.
