The rack we run is a 79-93 mustang. The rack bushings and tie rod ends come standard with the dropmember.

The rack can be purchased in either power or manual configurations. I prefer power.

a rebuilt rack from oriellys is only 90 bucks or so !

Mr. 'Porterbuilt' gave me a p/n once upon a time for a rebuilt R&P sourced through Summit that looked much nicer vs. the Oreilly Auto set-up & wasn't priced too crazy. I can't remember what mfr is was though.... I'll do some digging.

If you're going to log some miles on it & it's a driver, the Oreilly's type would still work just fine & can easily be touched up w/a little rattle can black.

So you don't have to use the Unisteer rack? I'm assume all the racks are built with the same dimensions, whether it's a $100 rack or a $1000..

That was actually a reboxed Unisteer rack and pinion that Summit sold.... at a price that was well below the "MAP". I had a long discussion about it with Unisteer and they gave me a price break that allows me to sell it for the same price. $249. Hands down the only way to go. I know how it is trying to find the blend of quality and budget in the C10 market, but this is one area I wouldn't skimp on. I have had several customers source their own racks (oreilley's and autozone for example). 99% of the tech. support issues and concerns regarding the steering were due to racks that were purchased or sourced from those types of companies.

i didnt use it ....of course i look for every way possible to shave off every dollar i can, and i used CPP's steering knuckles that saved a couple hundred between the two of those parts !

This is why we don't use the CPP steering joints. They look purdy until you get them wet.

Nope.. Not after reading this. and I have some flaming river steering joints. Hope they don't do the same thing. Guess I will soak them in wd-40.

This is why I'm buying my stuff from Porterbuilt. I did purchase the Oreilly's R&P to use for mock-up though.

This thing has been in pieces so long that the front suspension is a dropmember version1. It is currently pieced together with factory pieces. Eventually I will swap to all PB parts up front.
The rear is a bolt-in dropmember.

I got a problem and i'm hoping you guys will be able to help me out.

As I said in my earlier post, the front end of my truck was mocked up using a version one DM and stock control arms. Over the course of the last year I have purchased all the rest of the front end parts needed from Nate. I am still using my version 1. Now that I have everything installed, the wheels no longer clear the fenders.

The wheels are FOOSE 22 X 9.5 with 5-1/2" B.S. The tires are 255-35zr22 for an overall height of 29"

The way I see it I have two options :
Option one : Replace or modify my PB control arms, I see Nate offers them up 1-1/2" narrower than stock.
Option two : Replace the rims for ones with a better offset, if my math is correct. In order to run a 22X9.5 rim I need at least 6-1/2" B.S.

Hopefully someone here can confirm my thoughts, or provide other solutions?
