Re: Project "Sweet 16"
Very nice Jim!
Well, direction decided. The 216 is in. So it's going to be our own version of a "resto-mod". I had to do a little fab for the 216 to settle in nicely, so it is no longer "totally uncut". Truck will be 216 powered, mid 50's farm truck 4 speed granny, open driveshaft, 2 speed rear end (hydraulic brakes added), and shortened fromt he 157" wheelbase down to the 131" wheelbase (a factory offered wheelbase for that year). Flat bed with staggered stake sides. This will be a LONG project, done is phases, since the owner is on a tight budget.

Re: Project "Sweet 16"
Peel-n-seal came from Lowes. So far it has worked very well. Are you planning on coming to the August Warrensburg Car Show?

Re: Project "Sweet 16"
I re-read your entire build again tonight. I’m just amazed at how quick you got it all put together. Obviously no lack of motivation in your shop. I'm hitting 50 and slowing down a little and doing it all myself while working 2 jobs make it slow going. Seeing what you have accomplished sure is an inspiration. Can't wait to get back on my build after I recover from some foot surgery.
I’ve got a cousin in the Conway Missouri area who has done a few of these trucks but never an S10 conversion. He is watching mine and getting kinda interested in the concept. He goes to some of the local shows and swap meets in the Springfield area and I hope to meet him out there in the next couple years if I get my truck on the road by then. Might even run into you and your boy out there sometime. Would be nice to see you and some others from that area that frequent this forum. I know Warrensburg is a long way from Springfield but hey, it could happen. Take care Bartman

Re: Project "Sweet 16"
Bartman, nonsense. We go to Springfield for a BBQ every now and again! Thank you for the kind compliments. There are lots of Kansas City area shows that we'll be frequenting as well. In fact, Sept 6-8 is the Midwest All Truck Nats in Independence.
Any questions on our build, feel free to ask.

Re: Project "Sweet 16"
Most of you know that Chris was injured very badly in a shop fire a couple weeks ago. I have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help Chris (AKA SKYMANGS, Ole Sarge) and his family with medical expenses. Please share this with as many people as possible. Chris was the first to help with any questions, lets see if we can help him out here: Chris Klapp, AKA: SKYMANGS, Ole Sarge

Re: Project "Sweet 16"
Chris' wife posted this on his Facebook page yesterday:
"Chris had surgery today and he did well. They did a trac and cleaned up some of his burn areas. He is doing well this evening other than a slight fever." Chris loves working on these trucks, when he was building my truck it was hard to tell who was more excited, me or him. Chris was always the first to offer any advice to the forum members here. Pleasde help him and his family via the GoFundMe campaign that I set up to help Chris (AKA SKYMANGS, Ole Sarge) and his family with any medical expenses. Here is the link to the campaign http://www.gofundme.com/c49h5mjx8
