Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Been spending most of my time lately taking the 78 apart and selling things from it but today I started to tear the suspension apart and clean it up. I got the caliper, rotor and spindle off on one side. Breaking the balljoints loose was quite a struggle but a pickle fork and gear puller used together got the job done. I then cleaned the spindle in the parts cleaner and got it looking pretty with a coat of paint .

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Did you take the master cylinder from the 78 and use it on the 62?

I just picked up a 62 parts truck today to use on my 63 build.

Yes that is what I'm going to do. Since my truck has the hydraulic clutch I'll need to use a separate master cylinder for the clutch

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Sold the 78 today, got $300 (what I paid for it) plus 160 for some other parts I sold earlier. So free parts and money seems alright to me . Plus I can roll the 62 back out in the driveway so I can get back to work on it!

Oh and I also went to picknpull today to take advantage of their half priced weekend sale. Picked up a Swaybar for $15, not bad

£15.00 sway are is a massive win.

Could you please weigh that for me, and get me the dimensions, outside length and width.

So that I can figure if one would fit in the mail.

It would fit in a box that is is about 17"x42"x6". It weighs about 16 lbs. this is all just the bar with no brackets or bushings.

Maybe one day I can head that way. I'm always hunting around here to see what pops up. Thanks.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Here is some progress from the weekend. I decided to build a short throw shifter for the t5. First thing I did was drive the pin out of the hole and drilled a new hole exactly 1" above to move the pivot point up 1". Here's a pic with the pin in the newly drilled hole

This is certainly a Rock n Roll build, you just keep on progressing.

Good job on the cab side.

Thanks Jim, it sounds like you may have OCD (obsessive c10 disorder). Some of the symptoms include having too many projects, not enough money and or time.

I think you'll like the shorter shifter throw... and nice job fixing that big dent.
