Re: How about some pics of 99-06

Alot of diffrent reasons. Alot of people will think its stupid but I just decided to.

-I had a 4.3 and the miles were getting pretty high.
-I cant imagine building this truck and in the end it having the sluggish 4.3
-Every time i try to modify anything I have amillion wires in the way.
-Eventually I want it to be magazine quality and uner the hood never looks good on these trucks becuase of all the wiring and fuse boxes etc.
-I love old trucks and wish mine was one
-The theme of my bulid is "rat rod"
-Theres alot more dress up parts for small blocks over a 5.3 or 6.0
-If i dropped a 5.3 in it, it would be just another bagged rcsb with a 5.3

...yep

The truck looks like it will be nice when finished. I say these are all great reasons. Even if you didn't have any reasons it is still your truck and its cool to see something different. Keep up the good work and let us know when you get a build thread going.

Re: How about some pics of 99-06

I like it! and I was gonna say looks like your going for a "hot rod" theme so an LS wouldn't fit the look. I love clean engine bays and your right you would never get that with an LS. The other thing I see is simplicity, that motor takes all of 5 mins to hook up and run, with starting out with a V6 (like me) to put a late model V8 in there means complete harness, computer, fuse blocks, BCM......where the old school V8 just needs power and gas and go! Oh and the cost difference is huge! I have several older V8 just laying around because I have picked them up for under $100 and they are fine, good luck finding a Late model V8 with harness and everything for under $1K.

Sorry to jump on my "soap box" but I always wonder why people get up set when people done buy the biggest newest thing for their projects.....again this is just my opinion/personal experiance. I have to build everything on a super tight budget because I don't have tons of play money so I have considered doing this very same thing several times. I just worry about the city bringing emissions testing back and not being able to pass.....

Anyway franklin28 I can't wait to see the build thread!

Nick

All of the non needed things can be trimmed down and hidden, with very few wires running to the engine, coil packs can be relocated behind the engine and hidden, running wires like a normal SBC, custom valve covers are out there, along with many other dress up items, 4 barrel throttle bodies can be ran on performer intake manifolds or custom sheet metal intakes, he can still run that 2 barrel scoop on one of those throttle bodies.

Since he started with a 4.3, I totally understand, and yes all of the things I listed are a little expensive but possible, and yield a very clean look.

Yes there is a Fuel Injected LS3 under there...This one didn't relocate coils though, just covered them.

Only thing that gets me, all that work forming the covers, and they couldn't bend up a better oil fill tube than the stock plastic snap in one that comes out at an awkward angle.
