Re: Lost My 65
Got all my leftover scrap hauled off.
Picked up some material for a project. Done with hauling loads and needed runs. Finished up my body repairs - redneck style. Next summer I'll start with going back panel by panel and doing it right. Gave her a good wash before putting her away. I hope to get concrete poured in my barn by December. Then I'll start digging in for the th350 install.

digging the blue denim paint job on your truck, great alternative to spraying, looks good and does the job.

Sorry to say but I don't believe that the tubes interchange. I picked up 2 700R4's for $400 and one is in excellent useable shape. The other may get sold. The 66 I did with the 700R4 (4l60) sits right on 2400 RPM at 65 MPH... The final OD gear makes the truck a sweet cruiser.. The first gear in those units puts a bunch more gitty-up in the trucks git-along that's fer sure..

Oops, looks like I missed posting about me and my truck's rebuild anniversary last month.
30 years ago last month I pulled the GMC V6 out of the donor.

Just read this whole thread. Very nice. Did you ever find out what happened to your buddy buckets?

What was the chances of that! . I figured at one time, as it passed from one owner to the next, one of them stripped it of the more rare/desirable parts. I'm surprised it had the grill because they took the buddy buckets and my new aftermarket floormat. That's okay, I really like the Fiero seats I have in it now.

Re: Lost My 65
I'm pumped!
Concrete guys set up forms in my barn today. They're pouring Monday. 30 days to cure, and I'm Rockin! I couldn't afford to pour the whole thing but I'm getting 16' wide by 24' deep, that I'll enclose for a nice clean shop area. Man! I'm excited!

Re: Lost My 65
They're telling you 30 days to cure? Are they saying to stay off of the slab until then?

Re: Lost My 65
No it normally takes that long or half that to cure to walk on and put stress on the concrete. Me and my Pa built our garage at our last house and it was in the fall. Should be a quicker time being summer unless they said that so it gives time to fully set and not crack under stress. Up here I don't know the climate change as much as I do Michigan so your guess is as good as mine Captainfab.

Re: Lost My 65
There should be no reason a guy couldn't walk on a 4" slab the next day. Sawing releif cuts the following day is common. You probably wouldn't want to drive a car or truck on it for 2 weeks though. Of course that also depends on what if any additives were in the mix. I'd have to check with my son for the specifics as he is quite experenced with concrete.

You both are correct. In garages of new construction, we will put down roofing paper to protect the concrete from all the foot traffic that it will get by other contractors. It's surely safe to walk on. But, 28 days is the safe wait time before sealing. You can walk on it, but you don't start using it for a garage/shop for 30 days because you want to seal it first. So, when I said; "30 days to cure, and I'm Rockin!" - in 28 days I'll seal it, and 2 days later I'll pull my truck in and begin doing my th350 and 12-bolt swap. I'm excited to start working on my 65 knowing I won't be crawling around on gravel.

A little update. Ordered some Iggee seat covers for my fiero seats. Here they are just slipped on but not cinched down yet. They'll look better once they're tightened down. Well... they looked like they were missing something, so I picked up a buddy seat that fits nicely between. This gives me that little nostalgia of the buddy buckets I had back in the 80's.

Re: Lost My 65
In the pic above I used a photo app to tint the buddy seat blue.
The seat is actually green, but it's in nice original condition so I plan to dye/color it blue. Here's the seat all cleaned up and prepped for vinyl paint. Hope to paint it this weekend. . This is the color I plan to use; http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=6839376

Re: Lost My 65
Nice job! What did you use to dye it? Did you do it blue just to add some color contrast inside?

Re: Lost My 65
I used SEM;
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=6839376 I wanted blue because that's what my buddy buckets were in the 80's. I went with a dark blue to better blend with the black seats.
