Nice to see you posting again. The work is looking great. Are you going to try to get it in paint this year?

Yeah,, after using 80 pounds of nickel blasting media on the inside of one fender,, I decided it might be better to just go with new. Even after the rust repair in the lower corners and the media blast,, I could still see where the rust in the seams would probably start to grow and be a problem later on. The media blast also left the panel a little thin in places. Your build is looking pretty good!!

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

So I've been working on getting my seats in so I have an idea on how big to make my center console. The Yukon floor turns out to be very flimsy and thin feeling. To solve this problem,, GM installed some removable cross braces,, which are also kinda flimsy and awkward to build a center console off from.

So I built my own cross braces out of eighth inch flat bar.

I made them non removable (welded directly to the floor). And then started work on my seat bases.

Just read your build. Wow good to see your still plugging away on your truck after everything you went through a few years ago, a lot of people have to sell or loose interest in there project after all that. Interesting idea using more than just the chassis.

Don't knock me too much on this one,,, the seats are from a 96 Mitsubishi Mirage. They seem pretty comfortable and they seem to fit the truck pretty well. They do move forward and back and the backs tilt forward and back. The Yukon seat backs just seamed a little too thick at the back,, which reduces the space between me and the steering wheel. I need all the room I can get. Using the floor and firewall from the Yukon gave me an extra inch between the back of the cab and the steering wheel and it gave me a couple more inches of leg room.

I'm not knocking you on the seats. I was just curious. I'm going to try to use my Tahoe seats but we will see.

Thanks lower50's,,, it's definitely been tough at times,,, but that's what's so great about this site,, all the positive feedback and support!! I think there is over 400 comments on this build,, and not a single one of them is negative!!
So thank you and everybody on here who's helped keep me up and keep me moving forward!!
.
P.S. Sorry about the size of some of the pictures,,, I don't know what's going on with imageshack,, but I'm starting to regret using them.

Those seats look nice. Great work on the frame work. Are you planning on keeping the head rests on there? Lots of people don't like the head rests on my seats. But, they've saved my head from hitting the back window a couple of times, and they are comfy on a longer trip.

You make a good point,, I'll have to put them in and see if I like them or not. I'm not sure I'll be pulling any stumps with Tangerine ,,, I wish you lived closer,, if I need a stump pulled we could use your diesel K30!! (feel the TORQUE!!)

Here is just a little reminder of what I kinda want my interior to look like. Maybe not so "show Quality" but the general shape of the dash and center console. Plus I'll be using the Yukon instrument cluster.

If you want to build a dash like that, I have some mid year corvette dash pads I will send you so you can make some fiberglass ones, or use them as templates. I used them as molds when I built one for my 68 Vette.

Wow Ryan,, Thanks for offering that! I might just take you up on that. It will be a couple more weeks before the weather here is warm enough to start to do fiberglass. I will definitely keep that in mind.

Ok,, no super cool progress last week,,, spent most of the time getting rid of a bunch of wiring that I won't need (I hope!!). I'm pretty sure I won't need rear a/c, or On Star, or air bags, or power sunroof, ect. ect ect! Probably should have done this a long time ago!

Think of the performance gains from the weight of the wire you chopped out
