Yeah, I duct taped all the main areas...painters tape in some....just put the newspaper in the random sized holes where I might rip the tape off while grinding. I will tape it up better before paint.

Got some CPP parts in today...and of course, the main ones I needed were backordered. Will be at least a week with shipping and of course again...they won't expedite the shipping even though all was supposed to be shipped within 3-4 days after I ordered...two weeks ago...
I knew better than to use them, but found some sweet deals on ebay, they priced matched some competitors and did a package deal that I couldn't beat so you take the good with the bad....

I've had a pretty good run buying cheap and selling parts and making a decent deal without too many issues...then in the last week, this happens (probably 2 weeks before I get them -3-5 business days till in stock and 3-5 days to ship)
Then, I get my booster in and it's supposed to be "show quality" chrome and it is rusted in several spots Then, I get the posts, im's and emails about the NOS outer grill being dented during shipping. Had to refund the 600 I had already spent out of paypal on other parts....then today, the inner I sold on ebay comes in to the buyer cracked with pieces all in the box. Oh well, win some loose some. As long as FedEx honors the insurance I had paid I will come out with minimal loss. I am going to work on some small things while waiting on the front end parts to arrive and will be ordering paint so I can get the block/tranny painted soon.

Yeah Jonathan....I know your situation...I'm sure you know this but I had to make a list of things I wanted to accomplish each time I got to work on the Mistress..That kept me focused, I found my self getting impatient when I thought about gettingit all done!!!....It sems you got it under control though....Hopefully CPP will get those parts to ya soon ad you can continue!!!!

Looking good, and no matter what do not let it discourage you. Just think of it as a challenge for yourself, day by day you better yourself that little bit and get better at everything that comes your way. that is how i look at life.

I learn something every day. I did a restoration to an 80 Z28 about 12years ago, but had a friend who did the majority of the work while I watched and learned. By the end of the build I was helping more and then finished up a lot of things and made changes after that. Customized some newer vehicles after that, but this is my first frame off so I am definitely learning. It's challenging but I enjoy a challenge and have had lots of fun so far. It's a real sense of accomplishment to do things by yourself. I want to learn to weld so my next build can be 100% me, but for now, it's nice to have a little help so we can get things accomplished twice as fast as just me doing it.

The one with the lettering for $200 SHIPPED  It has damage on the top edge but is repairable. We'll be taking the entire front skin off pretty much so we'll be able to get in there and fix it. I will be selling that front skin so if someone needs the lettering from a chevrolet gate for a custom job let me know

Ended up getting just a couple hours over at the shop to work on the truck. However, spent the afternoon working and potentially earned a couple thousand to put into the project so that was worth it to me
Got a glovebox door mocked up for my gauge idea...but not ready for pictures yet... Spend most of the night prepping and painting front suspension parts. Also painted the rear bumper brackets. Had to take a couple pictures so here are the upper and lower cross shafts being painted and the adjustable wrench I got for the shafts

See that you’re working on the front suspension. I did my front suspension a number of years ago and found that when you take the “A” arm bushings off, that when you reinstall them you should use the replacement torque on the charts because the threads are already cut in the “A” arm (if your using new “A” arms use the new torque in the chart)
Included front suspension torque charts from a 1972 Service Manual. As far as I’m concerned front suspension bolt torque is very important to driving safety. (don’t want anything coming apart going down the road) Not to indicate that you haven’t already thought about this or have already gathered the torque requirements just want you to have a safe front suspension. Good luck on reassembly and keep up the good work on the truck and build thread.

Thanks for that. I was going to have to look them up. I got the specs for the rear u-bolts/rear suspension but not the front yet. I always hear the guys on here saying to do it by feel...

Got my one piece windows in today
Now gotta find a good passenger door fast so I can get these installed before paint. I don't want to risk messing up the paint so I'm just going to tape them off extra good like
