Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"

well the last couple days I forgot my camera, but to catch you up my A.D.D. kicked in and I deserted the cab for a little bit and went to work on the bed.
I didn't have a cab dolly so I grabbed some 1x1 tubing and some cheap casters from Harbor Freight and about $100 bucks later we have a bed dolly.
I started hanging some more of the LMC Truck parts ie. Front Bed Panel, wheel wells

mocking it all up to see how much I want to raise the bed floor, at the mocked up height the bed floor would be 12 inches deep

Poster board and cardboard can be a major asset when doing sheet metal work.

In the pics, the bed sides in front of the wheel well apprear to be pulled out...is that on purpose or something you need to fix?

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"

I love this project. For some reason I missed the thread on square peg while you were building it. And then my Street Trucks magazine comes in the mail and what is on the cover? I am like, how did I miss that???? So I am not going to miss this one. I love it so far. On another note, I came across this other cool SEMA build for 2015. I was wondering how many other people follow this guy????? "Bay one customs" on you tube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5OPepkQm-Q

He is building a '55 Ford for 2015 SEMA, but he build a '58 chevy for 2013?SEMA. Nice truck. But this guys videos are really cool in my opinion because he is always teaching tricks and tips. Most other stuff I find on youtube just shows what someone has done, but not the "process". Thought I would share.

Yes I use a ton of poster board ! That's just dents from the previous owner having it setting on the ground we haven't started body work yet.

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"

ok we decided she needed smoothed out a little ......

First I used a 80 grit sanding disc on my mini angle just to clean out the seams and make them bare metal

Started my tacking procedure 3 tacks in line then about a 6 inch skip to the next 3

started tacking in the stake pocket filler pieces

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"

started grinding it down, used an electric angle grinder very lightly and quickly skipping spots so I didn't heat it up to much, then finished it off with the air mini angle grinder with a 36 grit pad on it

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"

Looks good Mike. There are only 4 visible cab seams that I can think of. The rocker to cab corner below the door on both sides, but you need to carry this one thru the door jamb to make it look right. And the short one above the windsheild near the upper outter corners in the "visor" section that leads up on over the drip rail of the roof.

There are also a couple more in the door jam that can be done too. I did those on my "65 back in the '90's and that was a lot of work but looked realy good, and the hood seam that you already mentioned is a nice touch since you are smoothing the bed seams.

Doing the drip rail removal like in the pics above is a ton of work. Not sure it looks right to me. That one is a mod that you as the owner have to like to be happy with...
