Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Well. I gues any progress is good progress. I had some time to hang out with my little man and he wanted to work on Daddy's truck. I decided to drill and tap my cylinder head instead of using the adapter because it just stuck out too far to work for me. Got it installed just in time for him to loose interest. Shorttle attention span they have! I know, pics or it didnt happen!

Shortly after that he got into the tub of wheel bearing grease I was using to catch the shavings from drilling! Caught him just in time

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
I really like the idea of doing this. I have heard of guys doing this, looks easy enough to me. The adapter does stick out a little. (still kinda cool looking in brass though). Hope your son picks up more wrenching secrets than mine.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Went to the U-Pull it yard today and FINALLY got the fuel lines I needed. Hope to get them cleaned and installed tonight. Got family and friends coming over so we'll see how that goes. Maybe I'll get the cab back on this weekend. Wish me luck!

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Good and bad news. The lines I got were off a long bed so they turned out to be totally wrong. So I took some time and bent some myself. Still need to cut them off the proper length and flare the ends but that'll happen tonight if my little one goes down in time for me to muster up the desire to go out in the garage and sweat like hell again. Little bit at a time I guess.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Dumb question, but couldn't you cut them down and use them? Couldn't you cut a section out of the middles and reattach with some high pressure rubber line, or put a compression fitting in place?
Just curious. Nevermind...I see that you bent up your own. They look better then stock anyway! Last edited by nlped; 06-13-2010 at 06:33 PM. Reason: DA attack |

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
They were easy to get off, it had a dump bed on it and it was up. No harness was there though. Maybe next time.

Hey Josh, I got the radiator support loaded in the truck and I will bring it Tuesday if you still want it. Let me know. BTW, the fuel lines are looking good.

Re: The 6.0 Silverado Build
Very few. I took my rear springs off, disassembled them, sanded and painted and re-installed them so they will look good holding the 3.73 geared 12 bolt I picked up from you that i also cleaned ad have ready for paint. Finished running the fuel lines to the fuel rail, and a few misc. things I've been neglecting to finish. I am now ready to put the cab back on and I cant even start to tell you how excited I am about that. Then it should come together pretty quickly I hope. I also traded my 91 clip to FATHOE for a stock front end so I need to get the core support blasted, powder coated and installed. Still trying to decide if I want to Air Ride it while it's all apart, too many decisions!
