Re: started working on the 65 suburban

Hey man, love the Suburban; very cool project. I have a '66 that I need to start working on. A few questions for you:
What size tire are you running front and rear?
How tall is your frame notch?
That back seat looks to be a pretty good fit. What did it come from?

Thanks!

hey thanks for the cool comments!!

I am running a 20 inch wheel in the front and a 22 inch wheel in the rear I will have to check the actual tire size as I don't remember off the top of my head and it may show tire size on this tread some where.

I went to the extreme with the rear notch I believe it is 11 or 12 inches to accommodate the 22 inch rear wheel

the rear seat is out of an early 90s suburban and it does fit perfect and it is a 3rd seat so it is slightly narrower than the second seat hope this helps!!!

Thanks for the info; that helps quite a bit!

I have been worried that such a big frame notch would result in a lack of headroom in the back seat. Your setup looks like it would work well even with the big hump for the notch.

I'm trying to decide on a tire size so I can go ahead order the wheel/tire setup and start my frame mods. Your tires look like a 40 series so I can probably guesstimate pretty close 😀

the rear seat is just in front of the rear notch I am 6'2'' and the rear seat is good no head room problems!

as far as tire size I believe you are right about them being 40 series I actually think the fronts are slightly taller side walls than the rears the rears are tough to fit good being 22''s good luck cant wait to see some pictures of your truck!!
