Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Thanks for the nice words fellas. Yep Kentucky is a nice place to live, I've been to about every state on this side of the U.S. and so far its my fav.
I didn't get to do any priming or painting today. Friggin' weather! Rained about all day so the humidity was high. Hopefully I'll be able to get some of that done this week. I did have time today to get some other little things done. Gas tank installed, tailgate ready for primer and paint, firewall ready, other little parts and pieces are ready, valve covers installed and breather fitted (had to see what it looked like on there, lol). For anyone wondering this is how I lift the tub. Chain and grade 8 bolts. 4 attach points and I use blocks of wood to balance/level it out. May not be the safest way but so far its not fallen on my head. knock on wood.... |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Been a long day. Went to the garage, put the extention piece on the gas tank, primed the tailgate, firewall, and a couple other pieces. Came back home, mowed the yard and ate some lunch. Went back the garage, sanded then painted the primed pieces!!!! Now for some color!!!
First Grey, lol.... Then YELLOW!!! I've got the neck on the tank, I think I'm gonna try takin' a heat gun to heat the area around the neck to bend it over and down a little. Could work, we'll see, lol..... Last edited by Big J; 07-28-2009 at 11:29 PM. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
J, that is fn sweet. Great color choice, wish my wifey would let me paint in the kitchen I remember the day not to long ago you were welding...nice work
J, after rereading my post last night, it sounds like I'm knocking on your workshop, believe me I was not. Hope you didn't take it the wrong way, it's just with the cabinets, bathroom, TV and ceiling fan, it makes it look like a room outa my house. I know this is not your workshop, but a temporary stopgap. Again, nice progress, wish I could say the same of mine

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Took all the plastic off, tossed the mounts under it and dropped the tub down. Looks like I'm gettin' somewhere, lol... I had to toss the pushbar on to see what its gonna look like. Plus I have no where to store it .
I've got some big ol' chrome lights for the pushbar too!!! Last edited by Big J; 07-30-2009 at 07:20 PM. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Man body mounts suck, lol.... I think I have them in the right order. I guess we'll find out when I hang the fenders to check, haha.... I got the tub bolted down and the doors hung. Not aligned, just hung, had to save that fun for another night. Tossed on the lights on the push bar, broke one, grrrrrrr..... I guess for now it gives it character, lol.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Thats the order I followed. So if LMC has it right I should be good to go, lol. I used a poly set. Not sure of the brand.

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
Had a great day yesterday. Went out and did some target shootin', ate a couple 89 cent grilled chicken burritos, then worked on the blazer...
Got the body scuffed and did some filler work. Still tons more leveling, dang dings.... Slow progress. |

Re: "Slowly but Surely" Big J's build thread...
No doubt. I've gone through a gallon and theres hardly any on the truck. Most of its on the floor and in the trash. I've got a bad habbit of mixing too much and it gets hard before I've got a chance to put it on. |
