Re: Show us your projects

These are 3 photos from my '53 Chevy truck project. We are using the frame from a friends '53 Chevy truck. He wants my frame because he likes the way it is set up. The frame we are using has been blasted and painted. We put the Chassis Engineering IFS on to make sure everything fit. We will dissasemble it and paint it and then re-attach it. This is a complete bolt on unit and was easy to install once you get the initial 2 front holes drilled on the frame at the proper distance. The instructions make it a user friendly install. I have a 1976 Camaro rear differential that I will buff all the surface rust off and paint and install. then it is a matter of transferring the engine and transmission, and body, painting, installing the wooden bed and upholstering the inside. I will also have the steering column shaft shortened as I am going to make a full console and install a B&M Floor shifter. Great project and it keeps me home.

Re: Show us your projects

Picked up this '59 Apache in November to work on with my dad. There's a lot of work to do. Never had much car experience, but figured I'd do it right. Learning a lot from the board that's not covered in other places.

It's garage days are long gone. Both height and width wise. Just got to convince the wife to let me buy the building I have been looking at.

Re: Show us your projects

Here is my 51 sub project. It started out being an Air Force vehicle ended up with me, don't know much more. I've managed to slide a S-10 frame with a 4.3 Vortec under it. I should have it on the road by summer.

Nice choice in drivetrain. I'm running a 95 Vette LT1 w/a 4l60E as well.
Looks like a great project.

Good luck

Re: Show us your projects

did you changed out your Opti or gamble on the OEM. Mine is a 1994 with non venting. I am wrestling with the idea of changing to MSD or Delteq conversion.

To be honest, I think that the Opti horror stories are a bit over stated. I have the factory (vented) unit. My motor even sat for 7yrs and I didn't have any problems. Maybe the non-vented are a bigger pain. I say save your money and try it out first. Are you going to hack your harness or buy an aftermarket?
