Re: Finally my own build thread!

Thanks everyone for the complements. I just went over all the pics and realized that they look alot better in person than in those pics. Some of those pics look dirty around the welds which they aren't. Maybe it was the angle of the pic and the lighting. Anyways i got some emails today about having someone make the intake flanges for the sheetmetal intake so hopefully in week or two i can start the intake manifold. Thanks again!!!

Josh

Re: Finally my own build thread!

Finally!!!! Yesterday i was able to move the truck over to the shop. It was very exciting because i have been trying to move it for a while and now since it is moved i feel like i can work on it again. I never realized how wide the truck is until i loaded it on the trailer. I only had a few inches of clearance. That was a little scary but its all done!!!! Anyways i took some pics of the truck on the trailer just because i am a little.

Josh
I had the same issue when I loaded my truck to be hauled in for alignment, had about 1" to spare between the trailer fender wheels, made for tricky loading.

Congrats on getting the truck over to the new shop!

Just out of curiousity, what do you do for a living? Some serious skills, just wondering if you aquire those on your own tinkering time, or if they get honed at some fab type career.

Thanks,

It's amazing what a little work area can do for a project (it's very motivating). I think you're doing a heck of a job & look forward to these updates.

Thanks,
Thanks for the complements!! I am actually a Mechanical contractor (Heating and Air Conditioning). I have always been one of those guys who can't learn enough and with the internet being full of info i have read and researched the crap out of everything. Nathan from porterbuilt streetrods gave me some good advice when i was just getting started. He really helped me with the learning curve a couple years ago.

And thanks everyone for the motivation to keep on going! Its sometimes a little overwellming but you guys help keep me on track.

Josh

Yeah i am hoping to take it in what ever state it is in to the pismo car show. I was talking to my wife about how great it is going to feel when i do get to drive it. I will probably be so scared. Yeah anytime you are in atascadero get a hold of me. You can come by the shop and see the truck! Thanks for the complements!

Re: Finally my own build thread!

Well some more things have happened around the shop. We decided that we need some offices so we took over the shop directly to our right. So the really good news is that now i have my own section to work on my truck and other projects. Its not as big as our other shop but it is alot bigger than my garage i worked in for a few years so I am stoked. My side is about 1800sqft but there is about 800sqft of offices so i get a 1000sqft to play in. So i have been getting settled in. I expoxed the concrete floors so it will be easy to sweep (not like i do that alot), i painted my frame jig because it was left outside and go rained on. So it was a little rusty and i couldn't look at it like that so i painted it. I know its only a frame jig and will be scratched and welded on but at least it looks good for now. I still need to weld on 4 more brackets so it can be bolted to the ground. I also built a rolling cart for the bed off the truck so i can easily move it around. Then i took my truck back apart to get ready to put the frame back on the jig. I know you have all seen pics of my rollin chassis but it looked so good in the new shop that i had to share. Some real progress will start very soon.

Re: Finally my own build thread!

Look'n sweet Josh. I'm jealous, nice shop. We just ordered some new lights for our place and have actually been in the garage cleaning up. I don't want to say it too loud, but I may actually make some sparks soon. It's been way too long. Another good sign was last week. My Dad bought several new tools from Woodward Fab. I think he is finally ready go. I'm typing this with my fingers crossed. Keep up the good work.

Re: Finally my own build thread!

Well I have been working with Carter Hickman on doing a rendering and he nailed it!!!! I wish i would have done this earlier because it totally motivates me to get some stuff done! I am hoping Carter will do a rendering of the upholstery and dash but here is what i got for now. What do you all think? It kind of gives me that aggressive but still classy feel. I used the expression to my dad as "It has the feel of the kid who steals your lunch money but you don't mind giving it to him because he's so bad a$$". LOL

Actually i was going to paint it HOK TruBlu. I have painted it before and absolutely loved the color. I thought about going red but there are alot of red trucks so that is what persuaded me to go blue. Here is a pic of the red rendering.
