Re: '67 Short Step #2

Hey Richard, I just bought new brackets for the back bumper (which I haven't got yet), so I'll put them in place and get some pics for ya. I want to do a hidden hitch myself, so I'll be watching your progress on that as well.

Kyle, your truck has been a real inspiration!!!

I actually don't have that grille. That truck was on ebay a couple years back and I'm pretty sure it's a custom made piece.

Richard, here's the pics of the brackets themselves. I'm not quite sure how they mount without having a bumper in front of me. I hope this helps!

As long as I've been following along, I haven't commented yet???

What you've done is great! Most people would have given up after the fire! The truck turned out great and it gets to see some real road time!

Re: '67 Short Step #2

Just finished reading thru this thread, and WOW. Nice job!! Very cool truck you have there.
I am interrested in doing the welding and some body work on my next project. How did you go about learning the process of dent removal (hammer/dolly stuff) as well as using filler and what products to use and in what order? Also what grit paper to use to acheive a given result? Keep it up, nice work.

Thanks! As far as learning to weld and do body work, I read alot and then just started practicing. Start on a spare fender or something and keep practicing until you are confident. I would check with your local auto paints store for products but I personally like Evercoats Rage Gold. Keep in mind that you have to grind the welds and sand the filler, so you really can't mess things up too badly. Good luck and thanks for the compliment!

Thanks. Nothing new really. I hope to actually start on the bed wood this month and maybe order some carpet. I should get the pinstripped glovebox and radio delete back from my friend soon so I'll post pics when I get those.
