Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
I haven't forsaken my project. Still working on it. It's just that much of the stuff is pretty boring and not worth taking pictures of. It's the small details I have gotten hung up on. Here are a few photos, nothing in order, but it will make more sense as I move further along. I will be using the same parking brake handle but will be going with a Lokar parking break cable assembly because it is cleaner looking then the original metal rod coming out of the firewall going to the frame.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Thanks Baldeagle. Yeah I'm with you on that. Since the truck is not a high priority in the grand scheme of things it often has to take a back seat to everything else. OOOOOHHHHHH BUT let one of my daughters catch me outside and I only did 40 minutes worth of work and I'm accused of being in the garage ALL DAY

My e-brake handle is going in the stock location. But instead of the metal rod I will be doing a similar set up as shown in the pictures below with a Lokar e-brake cable kit. The pictures are of Blue57 's truck http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=155 the last photo is Lokar's cable. http://www.lokar.com/product-pgs/ebr...h-ebrakes.html I will post pics later when I get to that point.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
My truck is suppose to be done by now, lol. I put my truck on the back burner to do that '57 T-Bird for a friend that i posted on here, then it just snow balled from there other things kept getting in the way of concentrating on the truck. I stopped driving the truck in 2010. I had to apologize to BIG HEAD, aka Kabwe, coz I kept giving him a hard time about why aint his truck done. Now I'm in the same boat. The more involved I got the more I didn't like certain things I did before, let alone the metal work I had to do. Well the best thing is, all the money I saved by doing it myself. It might not come out looking like a pro built truck but I can sure make an effort One thing about your ryde, not too many shops can touch what you have done. You have made so many one off parts, you are a pro shop unto yourself.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
That truck is looking good. You do awesome work. On cables, you may know this, control cables can make you any kind of cable you want. They have some real neat stuff. I got chute, shifter, throttle and lean out cable for my dragster I had. He was cheaper and quality was great.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Shame on me for not knowing about them before. They are only 22 miles from my house. For all I know I probably drove right past them going to Moon Eyes equipment. OHH by the way blue57 gr8 photos from Brothers Truck show, I didn't make it out there. Hope you have more pics to post.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
KEEP THE EXPLANATION SIMPLE STUPID..... I'll try. I cut off an inverted hump on the left front fender well and flipped it around and welded it back on so the hump will cover up the wires coming out of the firewall. Why? Because I hate the sight of wires coming out of the firewall. And stripped & welded up holes & smoothed & trimed both fender wells for a better look and fit. Well BC WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST RELOCATE THE WIRES? I did that a long time ago, not going to do it again it's easier to cut and weld. The last photo of it with just a light coat of paint wanted to see how it's gonna look. I have more step by step detailed photos here http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=432758&page=4

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
More pics of the seemingly never ending project. Photos may not always be in order. Some stuff is further along then what's seen here. I decided not to go with the emblems on the fender I thought it would be too busy, so I welded up the holes. Then a 'lil voice in my head said , " those chrome GMC emblems sure would POP and Bling up against that bright orange you're gona paint it. So I killed the 'Lil voice in my head and filled in the holes.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Would you still say that if it had 2 head lights instead of 4? One of my contcts on here Green1959's member signature says " I pity the fool with only 2 headlights!"
Yeah that's a wicked truck. I had a heck of a time trying to get a decent shot of the wheels, they are really kool but being all black it's hard to really appreciate the style and detail of the wheels.

The 55 thru 59 are my favorite years. If I still had my 55 210 I might consider going two hole. The 58 Impala was not my favorite body style. The 59 Impala I would take one in a heartbeat. The wheels on the silver truck remind me of the minilite's they ran in SCCA. http://www.historictransam.com/Cars.html I pity the fool with no headlights! . |
