Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

AD;

Will have to start repairing them n let people know that I have them for sale.

Last year I got 15 mowers from the same place n with in a couple of days had fixed n sold 5 of them.
So that was worth the work as the mowers were given to me to help him clean out his over flow.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello Everyone;

Got out to the shop today.
Cked out the lawn mowers.
Looks like I'll be able to hopefully get about 12 mowers fixed out of the 20 that I got in.

I worked on the door latches today. (no pic)
Cleaned up the latches.
Just could not get the latches release right.
Come to find out that the coating on the latches was binding up.
Removed the coating n now have the latches working right.
Will have to do some fine work on the plate to match the latch opening.
Will work on them some more again tomorrow.

With the weather getting warmer here, I'll be out in the shop more.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello;

Jim;
Had to clean the latches,then had to remove the coating to make the latches work.

How I will have to set up the old door for fitting the handle, lock and latch placement. Then make a pattern to transfer to the door on the truck.
Have the handle set in the old door.
Looks like I will have to move the latch lower on the door to get the lock set.
Just taking the time to set up the old door first..
Will all so have to do some more trimming on the plate to fit the jeep latches.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello Everyone;
Good Morning:

So back on the door latches.
Hope that I can make this info helpful to others.
I'm using the door hardware from a Jeep.
#1 n #2 show the old door that I'm using for mockup
#3 old door with handle installed
#4 handle w lock key
#5 handle in door w rod to latch n plate
#6 handle in door w inside rods n opener layed out
#7 may have to move latch up or rework the rods
#8 window runner clearness
#9 latch n plate- need clearness to work
#10 coating remover from the latch jaws
#11 may have to move the outer door handle up 1.5 in

This is what I'm looking at for the door latch assy to be installed in the truck doors. It is going to take me some time to figure all this out.
I really do not want to ruin the doors on the truck
Once I get this (door latch) figured out then I have to work on the power windows.

All just takes time to make it fit.

Love it Tim! Research and development to figure it out.

Noticed you had a couple of John Deere riders in the mix too. Hopefully they are good enough to sell.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

AD

one of the JD has no carb,
The other one is complete.
Got this one cranking yesterday, no fire to plug.
Got one of the wood sherders to working yesterday,
These take time to work out.
Looks like I got about 18 mowers that the engines turn over.

Looking at the door lock more today all so.

Door side latch inside door(note the screw holds the latch) Marked for the latch area to be removed plus where the plate will set on the door frame
#14 (pic)

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Good Afternoon Everyone.

Well been out working on the door latches.

NOW !!
I will have to figure out how to fix the door latches after cutting a BIG hole in the door.

Here is what I have done so far with the door latches n what I think I'm going to have to do to make them fit.
I cut out the door for the latches #16
Fitted the latches #17
Marked out the door frame(cab) to be removed #18
The metal plate to be used for the cab pocket #19
Better look at the latch installed #20
Inside door handle lock placement #21
The window runners for the outside of door #22
Will have to trim the runners down to fit the window felt #23
The window felt placed in the runner #24

Any comments or thoughts will be help full.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Good Afternoon:

Well got back out on the door latch.

#25 cab cut out for latch (pic0
#26 Door latch n handle (pic)
#27 close up cab cut for clearness (pic)
#28 Door latch close up (pic)

Well still have not welded in the latch or the striker plate yet.
Still working out the fit for the door n striker

Just a lot of work to go thur.
Will make patterns for the other side, which will make it go a lot faster n easy.
Most likely not the way most would do the latch n the striker plate.
Just working with what I have to work with.

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello Everyone;

Well got the door latch's done on both doors.
Installed the inside door handles with locks all so.
Will post pics in a day or two. (battery dead)

HELP! !

I have been try to find a set of power window reg to fit this truck !
I have try the NEW style truck ( too wide)
Took the window reg out of the 88 jeep that I got the bear claws from.
They set too far in for the window to fit the runners.
I have a set of old ford excort crank regs that look to be close to what I need.
Going to go try to find a set of (power) reg from an excort.

So if anyone has put power window in one of this older trucks would appricate the help.

Tim, you are sure making progress on the door latches. It will be interesting to see what you and others have done for regulators. Stock won't work?

Re: The "Frankenstine" build;

Hello;

Ad;
The truck did have the large windows,but the handle studs were rounded off.
That is why I went with the wing type windows.
Just think that elect windows would work.

Will just have to keep try to find the right power reg to fit the doors.

Just like I did with the door latch's.

I'm keeping a note book on what all works on the truck.
Plus just might need parts sometime.
