Truck turned out great! All the trophies are the proof. Now to build a big enough trophy case in that sweet garage!

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

Thanks guys! I'm not going to lie, the recognition is nice. Other than the GSTA show, my primary goal this summer has been to show up and hang out with friends. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

Some of the parts for an upcoming brake system refurbish. New master cylinder and brake hoses from NAPA. Reman calipers and new wheel cylinders from Raybestos and a new 8" dual diaphragm booster from Summit. The weekend forecast looks like a washout so I'm going to get started on it Saturday...

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

I got the brake update done and replaced all of the shocks after finding one leaking. I'm pleased to report that the new brake booster improved braking considerably. The gas shocks seem to ride better too. It was nice yesterday so I blew off watching most of the Vikes/Lions game and enjoyed a leisurely cruise instead.

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

The other weekend it was into the low 30's so I opened the garage and cranked up the truck. Still a couple months from being able to drive it again...

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

I'm sure you had your trying times, but I just read your whole thread and it's one of the smoothest builds of any that I'm aware of. Not just in appearance, but in build process. Excellent attention to detail. It's nice to see one get done and then see pictures of it out and about.

The setbacks and do-overs all happened during the mock up phase so the final assembly was really uneventful. That said, I have a tendency to overthink things which probably helped as well.

My hope is that posting updates even though the build is "done" will help motivate folks with builds of their own. It takes a lot of time and effort, but it's worth it.
