Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Just got back from a few weeks on the road in St Louis inspecting and bought these from a board member on CL. He really did me a favor waiting untill I came through (three weeks later) to pick them up. $450 with mounts and console.

They are going to turm Parchment scroll and matching color on the console.
Thank you Luisblown55.
BTW what a great 55 he has (and drives)!

That's the warehouse, offices and tourist building. I saved about $60 by picking up my wheels.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Well I got the boy away from his Golf camp and had him do the rear axle swap with me. It went pretty easy.
I'll post all the photos in my build thread (link below)

here are a few "tease" images.

Moser 5 lug axle compared to stock 68 6 lug axle

Cursed at it for leaving me stranded twice ... from what I assume was the fuel boiling and vapor locking.. I guess 106* is just too much for the tired old beast...

Got my bed lined up with the cab! Needed a little creative shimming but I think I got it. Ignore the welded seams (from shortening the bed)...that's the next project...

Post Re : Vapor Locking

This can easily be cured by either adding one ounce of oil to each full tank of fuel or , better IMO , getting the $10 used transistorized S.U. electric fuel pump from underneath any old British car with carbys , I know your local Pick-A-Part yards get them in often .

Then just wire up a momentary pushbutton under the dashboard and when it begins to sputter , hold the button down until it stops .

The trick is getting an E- pump that won't have too much pressure , those pressure regulator things are crap , always so getting an E-Pump made for carbys , it the key ~ ALL MG's made after 1976 have the vastly improved S.U. E - pump that's not possible to flood your engine , no points to worry about either .

FWIW , if you ever find aluminum clothes pins , they help a lot too but very hard to find these days .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Took out the short tail shaft T350 and installed the 9" tail T350

Now the stock drive shaft should work.

I drained the radiator and block, flushed the system out, and poured in fresh coolant and distilled water.
