Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Thanks kilrcady. I tried the same but didn't have great results, so I went a different route. I put a decent gauge piece of black copper wire at the bottom - figured it wouldn't rot or rust. But, what really made a difference was cutting away a piece of the mirror swivel ball to allow for more adjustment range. I just used a metal cutting wheel on my dremel.
picture to get some perspective: closeup of the cut: closeup of the cut, 2: the result, from the driver's seat: I'll probably have to keep a good coat of grease in there to keep it from rusting, but at least it's useful now. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I knew that this new to me cab that I bought was going to need cab corners when I bought it, most do.
Also, being a member and a lurker for a while, I have seen quite a few interesting things that have been found in our trucks that was done by PO's. This has to be up there on the list Not only the spray foam, but they threw the cap in for good measure!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
When I bought my sport mirrors, I got the set that has the passenger side a convex mirror in it. The actually work pretty well. I like the look way better than the stock west coast type mirrors the truck came with. I will admit they would not be good for towing or if you had a bed shell on. I figure if I'm towing anything I just buy a set of temp mount tow mirrors.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Scraped off a couple pounds of crud. Rust free with all the Grease on it. LOL. Cleaned up pretty good. Got it painted and installed. Had to drill new holes. I have my motor mounted in the forward holes. I don't know if that is why or not. It's a Muncie m21. Maybe that's why.

Scored two arm rests to replace my "reupholstered" ones. They're not color coordinated but my elbow doesn't know the difference. LOL

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I installed new caliper hoses from Speedway Motors. It took cutting off the original brackets and welding the new ones on, but they look like the answer to a week of searching, parts returns and frustration!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Finished dismantling the cab less the front & rear windows and doors. I'll probably pull the hump as well, but space is a premium, so I'll save it for another day.
That and finished the first manual I'll be writing. At 75 pages it got too large (edit, reduce, standardize, edit, reduce, standardize.....Yikes).........so I figure one manual for body & windows, one for chassis & drive train, and the one I finished for all else. The next two should be much easier. Boring I know, but for me it's an adventure..........In 5-6 months I post actual restoration. The rebuild will be MUCH quicker....promise. I've received a TON of guidance through this website, and it's always appreciated,

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Ha, thanks. Sure have learned a lot. Can't wait for suspension and the rest of the e-brake. Haven't the slightest idea how the Ebrake cable it's connected at the frame. I'll figure it out after I pull the body. Can't wait to start painting something, starting with the frame. Still haven't settled on body color. That's been a constant since I bought it.

The second pic is another option. Third pic has become a recent ponder. If I had a 67 color would be easy........ Light blue and white.
