They are old Hooker Competitions that already had the textured coating. I sanded, cleaned with mineral spirits and sprayed with 3 coats of 2,000degree High Heat Rust-Oleum.

Installed plugs, wires, cap & rotor, changed the oil & filter & laid down some rubber! Gotta love old dried out tires!

Put some primer on my interior heater box. Going to fix my rear brakes after the kids are in bed.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Attempted to change fuel filter, but the line nut is stuck pretty good.
Was afraid to mess the threads up or bend the line.
Also was gonna change the oil and filter, but the oil pan is bent up pretty bad, concerned to get the drain bolt to seal again.
These past couple weeks have been rough trying to undo all the rigged up, backwoods ass work that's been done over the past 45 years lol.

Entered it into and drove it to the Good Guys Spring Lone Star Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth Texas.

Today was just a perfect 80 degree, blue sky, white puffy cloud car show kinda day!

I put those shocks on my truck and I'm not real happy with them. I found them to be bouncy. I had no sway bar yet so I'm going try again this summer with the sway bars in. Tell me what you think.
Thanks Derek

I have a factory sway bar on my truck and they are ( I'm pretty sure ) 7/8 inch thick. I picked up a 1 1/4 inch sway bar from a wrecker from a 85 1 ton Chevy and will be installing that with new polyurethane bushings. If you do not have a front sway bar put one on, they are literally a bolt in , and you won't believe the difference it makes in the handling of your truck. I haven't driven the truck enough to comment on the shocks but the truck stands a touch taller now and seemed smoother on the ride home from the shop. Living on the Prairie here in Western Canada there are not a lot of canyons to carve...

I'm in the process of installing front and rear sway bars along with greaseable polyurethane bushings. I'm putting new front springs to help the ride quality. I'll see this summer how it rides.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Nearly finished cleaning the exhaust heat shield under the passenger side, oh boy. Guess it wants an overnight vinegar soak. Nice piece though, no pitting.

Installed the bench seat adjuster wire in the driver, and if an operable seat wasn't cool enough, I found the original jack handle & stow-away bag hid behind the seat.

Did my part to help keep Wes in business. Good parts and always great information. Must have been on the phone an hour.

Finally put the dimmer switch grommet in months after installing the carpet and just cutting an X for access. Seriously just used a box knife after stressing about doing it "right" and it fits perfectly. Ignore the old torn rubber mat, it came with the truck that way 5 years ago!
