For sure Bill.

PURGATORY

/ˈpəːɡət(ə)ri/

noun: purgatory; plural noun: purgatories; noun: Purgatory

(in Catholic doctrine) a place or state of suffering inhabited by the souls of sinners who are expiating their sins before going to heaven.

expiate

/ˈɛkspɪeɪt/

verb

make amends or reparation for (guilt or wrongdoing).

So.......

You need to read the above really carefully, maybe you will get it, maybe you won’t.

That's not real important.

But I can say that based on the following two photos and DVLA report, I contacted an old friend , Bill, up near Glasgow to go take a look on my behalf before he went to work tonight,

Bill has these two beauties

And then.....

This is typical of Bill....... and others I have got to know over the years through this hobby. Simply unselfish.

I could make a list, and it would be quite long, of guys who are part of this club.

This was the basic information we had to go on.

Got two pics from the seller.

Seems the wheels are not on it at the moment.

Current status.

So at 4.00pm Bill drove over to where the car had been laying for a very long time and did a very basic inspection for me.

Previous owner had it 6 years.

I will get to the motivation and Why such a masochistic project, later.

When Bill called me later, he summarised it like this, and being a Scot, he is a man who does not waste words.

He basically said that if he had asked himself to go look at this for For him, he would be very happy to report that it was way better than expected.

So I sent him the money by Paypal within 10 minutes.

The sort of thing that pleased guys like @CraigRK and @PaulY no end, getting their grubby fingers in my wallet, spending my money on stuff for me.

I will post pics tomorrow or soon if you guys want to see what my Purgatory looks like.

I just need to figure the most affordable, sensible way to get the Rezin Rockit (Thanks @pistonpopper for suggesting the name) down from Glasgow to Rochester, and no, it has no motor or trans fitted right now.

Stand by for more random ramblings.

Looks good Rian. It is sooooo HOT here (and humid) it is hard to get motivated outside. So glad we were not really impacted by the storms. I'll get motivated on Monday, maybe.

Thank you very much.

I assume you mean the door and compressor room, and not plastic car,

Rain most of today here.

I was meant to be in the USA since Friday, but Covid19 has screwed that up.

So I guess building something makes sense.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

I'm OK with 5th wheel trailers, but the bumper hitch.....well you would never guess I drove a big rig early in my life (40+ years ago). I hate my little mower trailer. I feel like the biggest idiot on the planet.

Good luck finding a way to get it.

If you get it, use a law tractor to pull it back to the garage. Then no trailer backing involved

Evening Bill,

I reversed two camping trailers, a teardrop and a car trailer down there before......

And of course the C10 and Blazer repeatedly.

I would unhook from the Sprinter van, and hook it on the Galaxy which is a lot smaller and easy to manoeuvre down the alley.

Let’s see what happens.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

So where do I start when wanting to break hearts.

Bill went to look at this on Friday night before going on shift, fighting fires.

As mentioned, his Report was that he would be happy to buy it for himself.

Good enough for me.

Thankfully he took a bunch of heartbreaking photos.

This is why I spent my money on, 10 minutes after his approval was voiced.

Tell me why I bought..... headache does not count.

Previous owner had it 6 years.....; long enough to grow a lot of moss and fungus.

Front end

From?

Rear end

From?

Engine bay.

Empty

Safety equipment

Lacking (got radio)

Tank

Relocated

Prop shaft

“Present”

Carpeting, gauges

Yes.

So it looks like it has potemshul.

With team Retro Rides behind me and a few friends alongside me......

It will become something.

The Rezin Rockit....

Remember , history can repeat itself. Lightening strikes twice (sometimes)

Remember the Not a Project Chevy Blazer? https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread...-stranger-2020

This is how I saw it in June 2016 on a driveway where it had stood for 13 years.

And how it looked after Less than a year With the help of @PaulY in the snow

And then the Money Shot.

SOLD OFF IN AUGUST FOR A NETFLIX FILM ROLE.

NEW PAINT REVEALED MARCH 2020

So now just need to get it here and start collecting bits to put together.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Last thing tonight, unless my friend Insomnia comes to visit again.

In order for us to all be singing off the same Nando’s menu, a few very simple objectives for this build

I want this to be a side project, if that is even possible.

It needs to be really simple and without fancy programming, machining and trick parts (all that is relative of course)

Easy to find parts and maintenance, using as much standard parts nd as much of what is on the car.

Low, rather than high.

As silly a power to mass ratio as one can get without sacrificing r3liability.

There is just no use in building some exotic car that’s always broken down or waiting for the next exotic parts.

All advice, help, guidance thankfully accepted.

This following car is not exactly what I want to build, but certainly my general direction.

Built for fun, to do the hill climb at RRG ‘18 in a short timeframe by a large team of friends and knowledgable chaps.

I have been chatting with @Phoenixcapri as well, he has given some advice and may be along with more.

Thread here: https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread...l-eagle?page=1

Looks like you bought a project to keep from working on a project you already own...

I think it will make a cool little ride!

Agree totally.

However, I would like to believe it’s a side project

Well.

Bank holiday weekend is pretty much over.

Still need to get the trailer and fetching sorted for the Rezin Rockit.

Thought I would wait till after the weekend.

Getting here.....

Bill has been looking out for bits already, he seems to have a knack for finding bits.

Running about and searching between his home and the stash spot. Some distance away.

Hidden here.......

The one rear light lense has been missing.

At this point we have no idea where it actually could be from.

Wide search area by Bill.

So right now the search is still on.

Thanks mate

So am I, looking forward to it getting here.

Free is good, must say, Scott and I go a long way back.

Bank holiday weekend over, today kicked off as expected with my boss returning after two weeks off on sick leave, with a BIG BANG

However, life does go on, and one needs to try stay ahead.

So I started to look at options for a trailer to get the Rezin Rockit down here from Scotland

Alongside paying a commercial fee through Shipley.com I would be happier to do a road trip and make it more personal, like hiring a Beavertail or something similar.

Or going for a ride with mate Fil.

Chatting to Bill at about lunch time on Messenger video, he was in a scrap yard, looking for some parts for a Mercedes Benz, and also for some spare wheel nuts as most on the Rezin Rockit are missing.

While chatting I mentioned I was hoping to find a pair of high backed seats, possibly from a crashed 1.2 Corsa with a wing on the rear, parked upside down in a ditch by an over eager young driver.

Sent a pic while we were chatting......

Next thing ha shows me a blue car with black seats.........

How about these??

Turns out its a Mazda RX8 with black interior, I ;loved them, and asked what they would cost.....?

No idea, he replied, but we can ask.

Then he turns and there is a RED CAR with black and red interior.................

Shows me this.....

And inside

Crawling around inside, looking for damage and reasons not to take them.

So we decide. that Bill will go to the yard owner and see if the front seats are for sale.

Knowing this is the state of affairs, if Red and Black is available, mostly they try sell them as a full set.

Bill went in with me in tow on video in his hand..... weird yes. Love technology

So he asked how much for the front seats and the reply was that they preferred selling the full set.

But with a smile he asked again, and was told £100.00 or $135.00 for the two.

Seemed he was enjoying this, so Bill asked if that was really their best price, to which the reply was that as a firefighter they would let him have them for £70.00

Winner !!

30 minutes later.

And less than an hour later, he had them home, and given a quick wipe down.

I am pretty chuffed that this suddenly happened today.

Moving along nicely, and we have not collected it.

Thanks

Thought so too.

Hence dropping the cash without hesitation

So yesterday I go for a walk up to the farm after 4.00pm as I needed a bit of head space, and also to chat to mate Fil about various things.

A;so spoke to Ian the one farmer about something I am trying to get sorted.

Then a bit further on the way home, still in the mini-village and about 600meters from home I chatted with another “neighbour” who always has a car or bike build on the go, currently restoring a CJ7 for his wife.

Told him about the Eagle not soaring, and he immediately offered me his trailer to use.

I would prefer to have found a trailer up North that needs repatriation down South so that Fil only tows it one way.

This should do just fine if I fail to find something to use up in Scotland

Break neck with rear ramp.

Should do well.

Back to work now.

PS. Also found a knob.

Not sure about it yet.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Well, trailer is packed, food has been consumed with gusto

Fil and Nikki are off when the wake up, seems Cumbria is not Derbyshire, but what do I know.

So as with any worthy road trip, food is the foundation

I had suggested we sacrifice something to appease the gods of fossil fuel.

Chopping up trees.

Fire started, and goddess of fire, Nikki ensuring it was hot enough.

Fil who is doing all the hard work, driving to fetch the Rezin Rockit for me.

And there was more.

And lastly, Mr Subtle and Incognito himself, who donated motor and transmission to this build, just headed out get bread and milk.

Nikki has agreed to be the official photographer on the trip, to keep us updated and entertained

Bed time now I guess.

Traffic as always.

But many sights and history out there.

Also great for hanging Heavy doors like on the Chevy Truck . I use mine quite a lot . I even used it for installing my gearbox.

I've got a jack like that I use to move all kinds of stuff. Changing out the front cross member on my 62 to an 82 with power steering and disc brakes went very smooth thanks to that jack.

Looking forward to the new not a project kinda sorta jeep type thing you got going now.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Thought I would post up the rest of todays trip pics

As not everyone is British on here.

Uneventful day, except for losing the trailer license plate, despite carefully sticking it down with Ducktape yesterday.

Parked up for the night.

Tole Bill they had lost the number plate, 10 minutes later I get thins screenshot.

Amazing.

This trip seems to prove again Life is good.
