My first truck was a 6' bed. I like the look but never again if I want to use it. 8' fits a sheet of plywood and yes, clise the gate with a bike in it

Those TEXAS C/10 fender callouts are sweet .

My '69 C/10 came from TEXAS but I don't think I'd use them....

Maybe ? .

They look so sharp .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Replaced my power brake booster and master cylinder. Both from NAPA. Booster was a rebuild and the MC is a new one.

The brakes have been mushy since day 1 and bleeding them has been on my todo list. I discovered it was leaking from where the MC meets the booster so I replaced both since it had eaten up the paint on the booster. The booster was pretty nasty in the back so I'm glad I did.

I bench bled the MC. I will jack up the truck and flush/bleed each corner tomorrow.

I did discover than neither clevis pin had any kind of retention device (the one under the dash that connects the pedal to the pushrod, and the one inside the bracket between the booster and firewall. There's no hole so is it supposed to be a circlip? It's a little scary to have them missing.

I checked the mail, which held some new-to-me parts. I also bought more from the site.

Yes , a little folded over sheet metal clip, you can use an 'E' clip if you prefer .

Both types of clip are sold in the " HELP " aisle of your FLAPS .

The 'E' clip is what I was thinking of. I will probably run out to find one or the other at lunch. Thanks for the tip!

Spent the weekend digging out hedge stumps from around the house so today I and the wife took the 68 to the nursery and loaded up new bushes to plant.
She's now officially a "work" truck!

I installed some aluminum gutter screen to the cowl piece. I used construction adhesive.

I like the looks of that better than the one lmc sells . the one lmc sells works in that it keeps everything out , but I think the holes are too small seems like the vents don't throw enough air now

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

So I flushed the brakes last night. The brake fluid looked terrible. I got new clear fluid at all 4 bleeders now.

In back I took the drums off for a look, one side is mucked up with 'grease' -- looks like I have an axle seal issue, and looks like it's been there for a while.

In reading about the repair I also realized my truck must've been converted to 5-lug. I'm curious how it was done (whole new rear end or 5-lug axles). I need to see if I can find some numbers on the rear end to see what's involved in the repair for real. I'm not sure I want to tackle it. I do want to overhaul the rear brakes but now I'm wondering if I put the money into discs instead... one thing leads to another.

Here's what I saw inside the drum:

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I think if you had a seal leaking it would be more concentrated around the axle

Hmm -- it smelled sulfurous in there, like gear oil. What are the other explanations? I know the brakes need work back there so it could be a leaky wheel cylinder but it sure seems more like grease or gear oil. My theory is it's leaking down and getting churned up by the brakes. (The shoes and drum were all greasy)
