Niiiiiice But a lot to add to a cheap build. . Houston, we have a problem. Meet “ Burger “ she lives in a Vauxhall Viva estate. When discovered a year ago,the nobody knew how she got inside a closed car in an engineering companies yard. Turns out, she had found a large enough hole under the rear wheel arch to make her way inside, and create a home. Since then, she was de-wormed, de-flea’d and has two full meals a day, while keeping an eye on the engineering shop’s owner. Seems that ideally she needs a real home. Sweet as a sweet thing and loves a cuddle. Soooo tempting. While I was in the yard, I was offered this twin axle galvanised car trailer that only had one axle as someone managed to mangle the front axle. No space for it, but wish I did.

Yup.....
Molly’s No 2 kill, despite closed doors since she got here. It was a Shrew, I have just witnessed her catch and bring a second one into the lounge, play with it, and then promptly eat it. I think they moved in via the tumble drier vent through the wall. Looks like we have a [s]good[/s] GREAT mouser here.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
The vet who saw Molly/Burger/Jasmine this morning, did call the owners a second time to try understand why they were behaving the way they were.
Also, forgot to mention that the vet deleted the cost of the full physical and consultation he had given her this morning against the entry of “Stray” Really decent of him, and also kind. I had asked for the £40.00 full fat option and was happy to pay him for his service. Once again, just shows that what goes around, comes around.

My own Moral Compass would not let me do it differently. Life goes on. No USA road trip this year. But @CraigRK and his family are headed here today, to look at houses and schools in the area. Yes, that would be pretty cool. So along with him, come a free tractor for @glenanderson and a b@start heavy compressor for @PaulY plus my 500kg hydraulic lift. This will be a really useful tool in the Rezin Rockit build once I create a simple lifting frame to lift the chassis once the body is split away. Interestingly, all items are landing at zero purchase cost at to all of us. This will be a good day.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Absolutely. Once one knows what it is, it becomes easier. Also got directions on how to dismantle them, it involves boiling water to get the edge trim softened before e you peel it off carefully. It’s like a ring around the edge. Made up a small chassis number plate to add to the fibreglass body this week. I will screw it inside the glovebox in the end. The chassis number is on the chassis leg as expected, but not very well accessible. I wondered if it will be visible once the motor is back in, and it has been painted in under seal. Nice to have the right tools. Thanks Bootfair. Need to get the RX8 seats out of the C10 cab in the garage to start removing all the motors to lighten the drivers side up. Also need to find out if MX5 rails can be used on them.

Hey Rian, You might check out the Jeep aftermarket parts sites on the web for CJ and YJ seat mounts. I replaced the ones in YJ and now the seats flip forward making it easier to get to the back area.
Is your C10 jealous of your new project?

This will be a two seater “Racer” style build. Absolutely do not want anyone in the rear. I have stripped out everything in the rear, seat belts, carpet etc as I have no intent on having extra weight, and once the new cage is built, even more so. A post from a chap in Scotland
Talking about VDO gauges, came across these today, IIRC they came out of an Audi coupe that my B-I-L scrapped years ago. Any use to you?
My reply: Hi Jimi, 🏴 Thanks for the post offer. The plan is to fit, as you know a MX5 engine and gearbox. There was some wiring loom in the container the other day when I went to look at the motor. Not sure if it was part of the MX5 motor, but think so. I am planning on buying a new loom, because it’s a plastic car and the cost vs constantly reconnecting, fault finding and swearing soon outweighs the cost of a new loom. So if there is enough of the Mazda electrics, it would be good. I need to go take a look to see if I still have a rev counter I may have given away before, or that could be in my truck parts pile, but I like he idea of a large rev counter. Not sure if I will be able to, or if it would be worth trying to get the existing, weather beaten and rusted gauges back to function or just replace with good functional items. I think decent parts are probably the right way to go though. What do you need to have for these gauges? I will send you a PM as well. I also sent a PM and asked the price including shipping. His reply posted to my question, weirdly, as I sent off the PM. [quote"]What do you need to have for these gauges?
FOC shipmate, they cost me nothing so it wouldn't be right to take anything for them. I hate throwing things away so they have been kicking about my garage for years because they "might come in useful one day" .......... Looks like that day has arrived
Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
I took my back seat out and use the area for cargo so the seats flipping forward makes it easier to reach what ever is back there. I have a hard top so that is part of the reason too.
Anyway stock Jeep seat mount may work for you.

In other news, after stalling for about 5 weeks, due to work commitments, the steel guys were on site to do final measurements and fine tune my needs. Glad they were, as I confirmed some stuff, and changed some a bit. So next they manufacture all the parts, then bring it to site, and assemble to following day. Hopefully not another 5 weeks.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
So.
Screen time. I really like the flow of this screen and roll bar on this Land Rover. No plan for a full cage or screen roll bar. So when @glenanderson came over and brought his screen for me to use as a mock up sample, we offered it up. And some idea of the tilted back look, use your imagination to place it in its final resting place. So yesterday Sally helped me get a few pics, in order to get a better visualisation of what is planned. Side view Starting to like this. Looking forward to creating the supports and then removing the existing screen.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
Bikini roof was in my head from the start, despite not wanting a roof or much weather protection.
After cutting the grass, I was weeding the paving in front of the garage, and found this under the storage caravan. Also found that the welding caravans one wheel that I pumped p on Monday, had blown out, so need to go get a new tyre fitted. Bikini time again: Attaching it to the front screen in a way that prevents water ingress would be a challenge, but this old trick should work. I need a longer one by 150mm or so, but this can work too. Caravan window hinge. Simple C shaped design, sew some rope onto the roof canvas/vinyl and slide it into the groove. Secure up front, attach rear tails along roll bar. Job done. Happy days. Easy.

So with beams going up this made me smile.
Mickey was on site a lot as well. Keeping an eye that I did not build into his site. One after the other the beams went up. Shock Horror Haloween Boots Nuts n Bolts Coming together End extensions coming along. Think Garage/Service Station forecourt. Torquingup. Looking over from Mickey’s place. At this point I needed to join a three hour Zoom meeting. More in a few hours. Happy so far.

Morning Bill,
What is the difference. If you mean plywood with roofing felt as traditional style, then no. Plan is for high grade, 0.7mm plasticoated industrial profile roofing material in steel.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!
So typical of weekends, @CraigRK and I were chatting by 06.00 on WhatsApp about our weeks and then progressed to more important stuff.
Like the roof and what materials were needed. It did not take long before we were in video more and getting sizes down. So steel structure depth At 4950 plus a 50mm overhang at the rear and a 500mm stabilised, but unsupported overhang to the front, it gives me a 5.5 meter deep carport. Rear width on Mickeys boundary, overhanging the woodwork shed by 200mm is 5500mm including a 100mm unsupported overhang to the side. On the front I offset the one post in order to maximise front access and that is 6500mm or 6.5 meter wide For those who need to know, the shed overhang and front roof will be getting a small gutter and down pipe to catch whatever run off there is. Front beam height is 8’1” or 2450mm on the garage side and about 2x or 40mm shorter on the shed side, as the roof is horizontal but the paving drains away gently toward the garage. Rear beam is 7’5” or 2250mm high on the underside of the beam. The plan we ended up with to do the quantity calculations. So black is steel frame. Red and Green are timbers, all 47x200mm high end C24 carcassing Orange noggins were planned to be screwed into front timber and then also to blue 50x50 aluminium box section to stabilise unsupported front over reach roofing sheets. Roofing unfortunately shows a 4-6 week lead time online, so I will call the supplier in the morning to see if there is any way of expediting my small order. Roofing sheets will be Box Profile Sheets 32/1000 Rib - 0.7mm , PVC Plastisol coated and in Juniper Green. Basket Box Profile Sheet - 32/1000 Rib - 0.7mm - 5500mm x 1000mm - PVC Plastisol Juniper Green Delivery 4-6 Weeks Sku: BP32-947 £377.40 Foam profile fillers £28.08 Barge boards £65.48 Wood purlin screws £34.84 Metal sheet stitching screws £18.76 Screw colour caps £10.62 Box Profile Sheet - 32/1000 Rib - 0.7mm - 2700mm x 1000mm - PVC Plastisol Juniper Green Delivery 4-6 Weeks £30.87 Summary Subtotal £566.06 Shipping £78.00 Today's Discount £113.19 Order Total Incl. Tax £644.06 Apply Discount Code The timbers need to be ordered locally. Timber should be around £250.00 delivered. Now headed out to try get the screen off the Rezin Rockit without destroying it. Wish me luck.
