Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I drove mine into town to stretch its legs. I'm both anxious & sad at the thought of taking it off the road in order to fix it up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Just started on my latest truck, a 73 K10 short box.
Pulled the carb from the 292/6 cyl and completly rebuilt it plus new choke pull off, reinstalled and runs just great, good start on it.

Thumbs up Those Details

THANK YOU ! .

I had no idea such a site existed .

Since my truck was built and sold in TEXAS and retains the Dealer installed rear bumper with the name engraved in it, I'd be wanting a TEXAS inspection sticker, I'll go order one up .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Redid my hood hinges and springs. And made a spring stretcher. Gave me a chance to practice with the mig welder. And it worked for putting them back on. Took some ribbing from my friend. Said that should I used a come along and a tree. Said it would've saved a lot of time. Sometimes you just can't get the redneck out of us. Hey when you're retired you got time. Hopefully anyway. At least get the bucket list truck done. LOL.

I changed out my old ate up flexplate today, and will be installing my new starter tomorrow. I also installed a Thompson's Performance "Power Blast" plate in my carb. I haven't starting up yet., so I'll comment not that later.

Got my tie rod ends and drag link broken loose, and ordered new parts to replace the old stuff. After that's installed, it's alignment time.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Pulled the steering gearbox off my 67 because it was leaking. Found out it is a mid 80's steering box casting number 7802644. I was surprised the frame isn't dimpled but has raised area for bolt holes.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Time to go to school, new shoes! Had to grind the front rotors but was happy no spacers needed front or rear. 8.5 x 20 and 10 x 20. Now to drop it a little lower to 5 7.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Started the removal of the old cracked sealer and clean up of the drip rail so it can be resealed soon. Also this week, installed a new fan shroud to keep it cool for the summer and got it tuned pretty well now. Of course, I discovered the previous owner had the center link installed backwards, but one thing at time... Lots of things to do, but at least progress is being made.

Hey Glenn, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you get for the straight six motor? I have one in good running condition that I'm trying to sell. Thanks.
