Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Got the pool cleaned up a little. It's a lot better than the disaster it was. There's still a lot of work to do but I think it's getting there.

Tim I have a couple of Ryobi 20v tools that I was given Father’s Day and birthday the drill is ok except the chuck doesn’t stay tight in the bit I find I have to rechuck every few drills . The reciprocating saw works well I gave it to my son because his went south after many hours of abuse for the money there a good tool . I bought a Dewalt 20v to replace it .
I've got a lot of Craftsman C3 19.2v tools and batteries. Started with a drill driver I found on the road over twenty years ago , needed a charger so I bought a 4pc set with another drill, a worklight a reciprocating saw and sander. Now I have a impact driver, circular saw, angle grinder , couple more drill drivers, minivac, two chargers and about five batteries. all working well still .[knock on wood]

Nice to have that pool area done and looking good. Now it's time to sit back, relax, and think about the maintenance

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I did stain the concrete blue. It was ugly before. Hopefully it will hold up. Time will tell.

I don't know about sitting back and relaxing yet. I'm rewiring the pump which was a mess. Who puts a junction box in the dirt? The wires were fried and the pool is leaking so I've got to get that fixed. It's and old pool and it has been neglected.

So the money pit continues. Is anyone else as dumb as me to buy a house where absolutely everything is broken?

I don't think you can see the cooked wires in this shot but they're there. (not anymore ).

Yeah I kind of bit off more than I can chew with this place. I keep telling myself that it's worth it and I think it will be. But right now it's a giant headache. It's a BIG house which is great unless you're remodeling it. Then it's not so good. More isn't always better. I went to replace the outlets and switches. I had to get 47 of them and that doesn't include the barn or the garage. This should be on the stupidity thread.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Made up some steps for my daughter my granddaughter approves. Railings go up tomorrow. Had to make it larger because there is an egress window under the slider so the basement can be living space

Surprised code allows anything over an egress escape opening. I agree with your grand daughter, it does look very nice.

To the left of the deck is a stairwell you can stand under the decking . I have to put a railing and gate there also so nobody falls in from the patio

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I hauled home some Chevy parts from a friends house. I got a front bumper , a set of front fenders , a pair of doors , a step side bed in pieces with fenders , steering box and pump with brackets and instrument panel with gauges for '67-'72. Also got a set of 19" wire wheels , 34-36 master u-joint assm. and a circular heater in parts along with a '39 and a '49 three speed trans. We ran out of room in back of the Burb.

Yeah, I took the rear seat out knowing I was going to need the room. I did bring home more than I expected. The wheels are early 30's 19" and they have been blasted and powder coated. I got a set of five.["I love Suburbans"]

Couple of odds and ends left to do. All the balusters are in now . Started on the rail tops need one more piece of cedar to finish. Also need to put a gate up at the stairs going to the basement . Little one is already going down under the deck

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Work on my friends 54 the one with the ferd motor I know it’s a truck but not mine . He bought a new rad that was made for the truck with a 3100 cfm spal fan went in nice and easy he fired up the truck waited for it to warm a little went for a ride . Temps hovered between 190 and 200 with the a/c on while doing 40 mph . He got caught in traffic in town and the temp went to 220 and was still climbing. He limped it home .

I look at it and noticed the fan was hooked up to a toggle switch . First warning sign then I traced the wire and it was 14 gauge . He pulled juice from another circuit to power it . I inquired as to why he didn’t use a relay powered from the battery ? He looks at me like deer in the headlights . I take out my Fluke multimeter and have him turn on the fan little over 9 volts . So I rip all his wires out and jump the fan from the battery with a 10 gauge wire . Fan sounded like it went from low to high setting . Truck idled with the air on for 15 minutes and hovered around 190 .So tomorrow he’s getting the relay and heavier wire . But he’s still going to have it manually switched

Tried to talk him into buying the kit from the company but he said it was too much . Think the radiator and fan were 1k and the wiring kit was too much ?
