Sanded the front bumper, ready to prime. Left the truck in the garage to miss the hail and tornadoes.

On your carb problems if it were me i'd check the float levels first then adjust the idle air screws to your motor. It sounds to me like your gettin enough air but not enough fuel. Is this a new Holley?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Worked on the tail lights and the oil coiler so it will clear the grill. Measured and looked at the inner fenders to get an idea on how to trim them down some more and look factory.. I think I have a plan...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Started polishing the Custom Cab panel and did some sanding on the wood I put in almost 15 years ago to try and salvage.

Also got a line on a 383 w/ T400 to drop in and found out the new tank was ready to get a liner and the new radiator was good to go.

So far I've only done a portion of one and it's turned out great so far. I've just got a polishing wheel that I borrowed from a buddy... it cuts down on time a LOT (but it does get quite messy).

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well I got the 401M off the wooden crate and transferred it to the engine stand. Will start to clean, detail and paint it. That thing is heavy, but I do like me some GMC V-6's. I did add an extra big piece of wood in front; after this photo, for more support.

I did the front brace too, Although my stand was custom built and designed for heavy motors, I did not trust the grade 8 bolts I got from Home Depot. Who knows where THEY where made.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Installed plugs to block off heater hose ports, bled the brakes and drove the truck to my buddy's shop so I can start welding in the door post.

I also picked up an electric fan from a yard sale for $10. Gonna build a mount and wire it up tomorrow.

All in all, a good day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

My first post here. Picked up a 62 LWB for 300 bucks a few months back. Been working on it as a weekend project.
Anyway today got to taping it off so I could get primer shot. But as I started lost the motor on my air compressor. I took the bezels from the rear lights and front turns and tried to clean them up but tthey were in to bad a shape. What I done there was to rattle can them black to go with the Hugger orange that the truck will be painted.

Chad, does that piece mount to the driver inner fender? Obviously it looks like something goes there... but I could never find that piece for my truck.

Damnit... I'm gonna have to see if I can track that piece down now.

Went out today and removed the original power steering and installed a new upgraded one. But still need the center bar since what I had won't work.

I feel like a slacker!

I only got the brackets made for mounting an electric fan.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Riveted a patch in place of the breather hole in the dual snorkel air cleaner; sanded and primed the 1 1/4" sway bar, ordered some new door panel screws on Ebay and mocked up the side trim that I received from GMCNUT.
