Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Opened my package of 4-row radiator brackets from a forum member. I also spoke with the media blaster, he has my (original) fender cleaned up and epoxy primed. I should be able to get it on Friday(?).

That looks great! I'm looking at doing the same thing. I would really like to find a paint close to my original Medium Oive. If I do, it's a slam dunk.

Finally got the under dash Blazer only lights I bought from Roger Koop installed and I used LED bulbs. I also have an LED bulb in my dome light. They were plug and play when I figured out where to plug into. Piece of cake if you have the factory dome light switch on the door jamb. I took the pic inside the garage with the overhead door down and I think it will be brighter in the cab when its dark outside.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Ordered an aluminum radiator from KKS Motorsports. I'm not a fan of aluminum radiators but it was much cheaper than having mine recored and hopefully it fits better than the copper/brass one from RockAuto.

You have an attractive interior. The white should get less hot in the sun and plaid is the color of the '70's. I rather wish my truck came with plaid and I may redo the seat in plaid.

Please share the part numbers and source for the LED bulbs...

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Been chasing a slow, persistent, and extremely elusive coolant leak with no luck. Even had the shop pressurize the system and give a look-see. Nothing. I don't drive it often anymore but the coolant level continues to slowly drop. Need to find the leak before I change coolant (overdue, btw).

Found evidence of seepage where the heater hose hits the radiator. Replaced the heater hose, installed new clamps, and snugged all other clamps. Then did something I swore I would never do, out of sheer desperation. Poured in some stop-leak.

Time will tell if it's "fixed". Keeping my fingers crossed -- getting tired of adding Prestone and watching it slowly disappear.

Got my electronic flashers along with the LED front signal light bulbs installed so now I have LED's in the tail lights, side marker lights and front signal lights. Next up, brighter headlight relay set up.

Did some block sanding and created some more rattle can fauxtina. Left dents in gate since it is too beat up. Will eventually need a new one.

My wife painted the inside of the fenders a couple of weeks ago while I was at work. Started cleaning trim and putting it back on.

Lugged the '70 c-10 350/TH400 donor truck home. I only need a few parts, then I'll be getting rid of it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I rolled the 69 out of the shop for the first time in twenty years under it's own power. Yeah, twenty years. Time does get away doesn't it? I've not been in any hurry. One can forget what these trucks feel like while sitting for so many years. One reason to get it off the jackstands and pull it out was to get a different perspective of how it presently sits and check out the mechanicals. Run it around the yard a bit. Long running projects can tend to get stale. It felt good to be behind the wheel of it again. The truck looks 3/4 scale compared to the Yukon.
