Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Saturday was the Cherry Blossom poker run. It’s the first time I have went and we really enjoyed it. It was also 80 degrees which is rare this time of year for Oregon, so there were a lot of cars & trucks.

Unfortunately we didn’t take many photos.

I don't know if this counts but I finished making and gathering up the parts for the outriggers on the engine stand.

Thanks Brian as you well know I worked awfully hard to make it look like something.

I'm watching as are a lot of others. My progress is very slow and it's going to be a nice driver quality, not high end show, so not as impressive as others here.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Threw on my hood and finished installing my LS Fab hood strut kit. This is such a nice kit. Supplied mounts and hardware is all SS. I painted mine to blend in more.

Thank you
Marc

I finished the outriggers on the engine stand. I feel a lot better about it especially when the 6-71 is hanging off the side.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

The monthly Cars and Coffee gathering at the country store had both sides of the road filled with classic vehicles. Oddly enough, I was the lone AD representative. This edition's theme was Cinco De Mayo, complete with hot chili. It's a nice little drive on rural backroads that keeps my truck limber and the battery charged.

Ok now way too amazing looking to put in vehicle. Buy a big house and use as centerpiece display in living room.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

The weather here has been terrible so I decided to work on the blower. I need to take the front cover and snout off the 4-71 and put it on the 6-71. I also need to polish the back cover on the 6-71. This will be sticking out of the hood on the hot chick side of the truck. I'm also replacing the bolts with ARP 12 point bolts. I took out one of the bolts for sizing. I like the protective film for keeping grindings out of everything. Why aren't more people posting on this thread? This is one of the easiest sites to post pictures on. There has to be more people working on their trucks. Thank you for your time.

Finally got the latches and lever powder coated and installed after I misplaced the first set, and the lifting rods installed.

I quit posting just because no one showed any interest it what I was doing with my truck and after 20+ posts with no responses... why do it. I take pride in everything I do, as does everyone else. I know most people don't have the money I put into mine, but "The Beast" is the last thing on my bucket list and I built it for my pleasure and what I want in a truck.

I think your build is awesome. I can appreciate the time it takes to pay attention to details. I can also appreciate the utilitarian point of view of others. Just because people don't comment doesn't mean their not watching. Keep them coming please. I have also gotten good ideas from post and pictures that some may have thought unimportant. Mine is also a once in a lifetime build.

Yeah Jim if you had a build thread specific to your truck, it would be so much easier to follow along, comment, etc. This thread should be more for one-off tasks instead of each step someone takes to build a truck.

I don't always get a reply when I update my builds, but that's okay, its a journal for me, and entertainment for others. I'm not doing anything unique at all to my trucks so its probably not very entertaining, but I love being able to look back on the progress I made that was all new to ME.

Well I find your build interesting. I find all builds interesting especially when person is doing the vast majority of the work in their home shop or garage. Its hard work and take you being a jack or all trades. Good job to all my fellow home builders. So it does not matter if people comment because believe me they are looking and in many cases learning.

I think most guys are posting their progress reports in the "Projects And Builds" section.

Thanks! I really means a bunch. I have spent a couple of weekends trying to get the gaps right.

Idbeast I’m interested in the tailgate latch you show in the picture. Is that something you came up with or a kit?
