Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Thanks guys just trying to be different ! Here is a little progress from last night, fitting and trimming my core support to grill filler panel (trying to figure out how to attach them without visible screws), working on making a removeable cover for my radiator cap, and thinking of redoing the top of my fan shroud, it just looks a little plain !

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Mike,... I know you have alot of time in this,... but would it be easier to make the radiator side panel one piece with just 2 breaks in it.
Then the top piece could be broke to fit behind the hood latch.
Then you could bead roll it where ever you want
Maybe a large dimple dye where the radiator cap sits?

Just an idea.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

The hardest part is the hidden fasteners.
The top of the original core support could be drilled for "door panel" type clips.
Or the grille filler could be drilled and held on with nice stainless "button head" screws.
Totally Stainless sell button head machine screws and sheetmetal screws.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

That would look cleaner than multiple cuts in it. Maybe a little more time for fitment but cleaner for sure. A couple of well placed bead rolls would get the "plain out of it" but still leave it not too "overdone". The radiator access panel that you will design for it will be a great touch........

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

I would bring the top piece all the way out to match the "peaks" of the core support and grille filler.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

i think i am going to try that, thanks Keith ! now to figure out how to tie it all together ! I am thinking if i put a seam at each outside edge of the radiator i could make both of those panels removeabe to access the filler and to access the bolts to bolt in the radiator core support ?

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

LOL, yes exactly like Keith just posted ! but now that makes me want to make some sheet metal core to grill filler panels and weld them all together in one big piece so there wont be any seams !

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

there are those rubber stoppers that they use for hood alignment they usually screw into the bodywork at the corners , you could use those to hold the sheetmetal in place
