If you are really "sorry", you could always PM him.

Doesn't bother me, but I'm just sayin'........

Thanks for the advice. PM's seem to get ignored a lot.

I went ahead and ordered the LMC harness and the conversion from DDM.

Also got a set of stainless steel bed bolts so I can get the bed back on the truck.

Carb Got cent out for a check, after sitting 2 years after the rebuild, it was flooding the engine massivly when trying to start the engine.

Truck should be on the road in a couple weeks!

I hear ya.

I'm taking a "day off" from working on the truck. Last evening, my woman and I went up to the trans shop and picked up the TH350. Seems there was a leak at a bushing where the shaft goes thru the pump cover.
He re-installed another shift shaft seal, checked the shift-shaft for grooves, replaced the bushing, and generally checked-over the 350 for leaks. He and I hefted it (back once again) into the trunk of my car. $84.61.

Installed the trans cooler lines that Napa made up 1/2 way.... The ends that go into the radiator.

Then I figured out that the "new" Chinese fan controller set up was a rat. Just the probe. But replacing the probe would have been virtually impossible. Napa to the rescue ....again.
I'll bring home the bad one and put up a pic so you all know what NOT to buy if you ever have to get one.The Napa one is 100% more substantial and about $5 cheaper ($45).

Then, here's another Pep Boys fluids stash in the back seat.

I think I need a day off. Monday is more trans install and fluid pouring. Hoping for a dry Monday this time.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I wired my fan with a kit from jegs that uses a switch mounted in the engine as aposed to the probe in the radiator. Mine is next to the thermostat in the intake manifold so it gets a good accurate reading.

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Nice Service bed ! .

I went to my favorite junkyard to - day on a job , on the way out I passed by a 197? Jeep CJ7 with L6 and found the final power brake part I've been searching for ~ the correct threaded intake manifold vauum adapter with 11/32" barb on it and the smaller vacuum fitting for my dashboard vacuum guge....

I went home and put the fitting on my engine then went back to work....

I love how a 42 year old , nothing special " Cheap Truck " just sits there awaiting my beck and call ~ I turned the key and naturally it lit right off and ran well.....

No surprise of course , that's why I have BOW TIE Trucks .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installed front spindles & disk brakes from a 78 onto the 70. While I was there I cut 1-1/2 coils out to see how the front looks dropped. Like a dummy I forgot to measure the differences of before (1st pic) and after, but it looks to be around 2-3" drop.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

After the eight freeze plug install, the motor's back in. After the leakage at all ports was diagnosed and (knock on wood) plugged professionally ,
the trans is back in. Driveline is all hooked up. All the stuff is hooked back up to the trans. All the throttle linkage, kick down,
and enough of the electrical is in to start 'er up.

Fluids (the bane of my recent existence) are back in and she fired right up.
Dry as a bone......

A hard, hot day. A good day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I finally had a little free time to mess with the truck today. I mounted my e-fans to the shroud, the shroud to the radiator, and dropped it in the truck for mock-up. I was able to get the replacement stepside fenders sanded and ready for paint/install too but I'm waiting until the '66 style tail lights with brackets come in tomorrow to do it all at once. I think next will be the steering column. I really need to blast those radiator brackets and repaint. I have so many new parts sitting around just waiting to be put in. Just not enough time!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Pulled it out of my garage and polished the new rims I got last week. Other than that It has been to hot to do anything.
A question for you all. If you choke a smurf what color will he turn, and how do they get the deer to cross at the deer crossing signs and what is a PED. I see PED crossings all the time and have never seen one. Has anyone seen a PED. Something to think about.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

reinstalled the rebuilt Holley, fired it up, ran ruff, pulled the plugs they were trashed, did a compression check, everything great there, put some new plugs in again, fired it up, much better, dialed in the carb and its running much better now. Dad pulled the drivers side rear control arm that was completely rotten and swapped in a very nice used one i found. he also got the urethane bushing installed in the arm and track bar. he even got the passenger side arm removed and down to the blaster for a quick cleanup. it was 100 deg here again today and i must say the old man was gettin after it!
