Replaced my ignition to coil to starter solenoid wire yesterday and an oil change in progress today. Drove it some last night to piss off the neighbors too.

I drove to the local NSRA Appreciation Days show and had the 68 safety inspected. She passed with flying colors.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I took one of my '02 trucks to the Goodguys show in Nashville. If I would have taken the un-air conditioned '69, I would be typing this dead. Anyway, have a look at what I find interesting.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Hah! I'm a freak. I like trucks, station wagons, & less popular items (explains the Buicks). Last year I fell in love with a '71 Pontiac LeMans GT-37. But thanks for the compliment.
Plus, I was able to get a copy of the Classic Parts catalog for the '69. You can never have too many choices when it comes to parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Took it camping to Lake Casitas, CA on Friday, coming home on Sunday. I completely forgot to take some pics for the "Show your truck hauling" thread. On the way home, it got hot enough to quit, and I managed to coast into a turnout until it cooled down. It was hot enough that the fuel was boiling in the float bowl- I could actually hear it! I don't personally believe that that 230º water temp is hot enough; it's been that hot before. I suspect that the heat riser valve is stuck shut. I will be checking that. It has been smoking (shame, shame) when I go to back it into a parking space at campgrounds. The engine has 100k+ miles since the last rebuild, so I'm not surprised. I won't be surprised if it has a roller cam and some other improvements when the rebuild is done. Thread to come. I'll be taking the radiator out and going to a local shop with a good reputation, just to make sure that that isn't the problem. That radiator is only 12 years old. If the radiator is toast, I'll likely be going to an aluminum one. I'm having the first (left) of two surgeries for carpal tunnel syndrome on the 30th of May. It's going to be 6 months minimum before I go camping again, and my woodcarving hobby is going to be toast for the same or worse mount of time.

Nah. They've just been down a lot of roads in their lifetimes and most of them weren't paved. . Me too.

I was working and taking parts & stuff out of the ed when the Street Sweeper went by, I waver and he stopped to chat, asked me yet again if I want to sell it....
I need to ask him if he'll take a long bed Fleetside rig as I find those occasionally and I bet he wants a V8 anyway

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
The Goodguys shows have been so good that it is an automatic visit for me. Good car shows around Nashville are just very few & far between. There is one in January that I enjoy at the Fairgrounds that is also a must visit for me.

You're welcome for the pictures. I've got to admit there is a ton of work done to most of them that makes me jealous. And ironically, I got behind a 4-door mid-60's Chevelle Malibu with a 3 on the tree on my way home. I watched the guy through the rear window.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Not today, but Sunday I got tired of looking at the sun burnt woodgrain trim on the driver side of my '72 and decided to replace it. The truck needs rockers and one cab corner, I hope to go ahead and fix this summer. I was putting off the trim change till then, but had a little time to kill. The thing is unrestored and I'm keeping it that way long as is practical. Right now it's "keep the old truck going" over a restoration, just as would be when it was 10 years old. The truck must have sat under a carport with the western side open to the late sun. Or, the sun is just kinder from the east earlier in the day. The Cheyenne Super K/20 and Highlander K/20 both had the same thing.
Started out like this: I had some refurbished mounting hardware and double stick tape on hand, so this little project cost virtually nuthin' It was ugly under the trim, so I took a cup brush to it, coarse sanded, down to fine wet sanding, then black prime and paint Just a small change, but mo' betta now
