Make sure you post a pic Randy, I wanted to do the samething but was not sure if I should just go with drop spindles and new coils.

I am all up and in love with your "engine decision"!!

Being a Looooooooong time Pontiac Nut.....this is EXACTLY what I will be doing to my 68 GMC.

Although minus the aluminum heads....I am building a 1970 Pontiac 455 HO engine with its original #64 heads for the 68 now...!!

Keep me up to date with your project!!! Love it!

Thanks,
it's getting close. Just needs an exhaust. It will get 3" x-pipe set up and spintech mufflers.

Started cleaning things up in preparation for my new engine.
I have a few question about the install though.

bought the materials to do a tranny filter and fluid change on 2 of my trucks. Next I need to do a fluid and filter change on the '69, and then a round of oil changes on EVERYTHING...

Post Re : Fuel Economy

My '69 C/10 with 250 CID L6 and TH350 tranny , 29" tires gets 17 MPG , no AC and I don't rev. the pi$$ out of it going stupidly fast on the freeway....

I am well pleased with this fuel mileage , it's far better than my old '49 3100 with 235 , that never got above 12 MPG .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Wasn't today but Saturday. Got the e-brake fixed. Bad cable and linkage. Then got the timing straightened out. Somewhat. Runs better, but still sucking gas. It will backfire through the carb when it is still cold while you are under throttle, but once warmed up she runs great. Not sure where to proceed from there. Still have a minor dieseling problem as well. Not near as bad as before but still there.

Well, 69GWC, you made me go to work this evening. I broke out my LMC "bottom" trim, measured twice, and cut it.
(Sidebar: I wish LMC wouldn't ship with all that nasty "popcorn"....What a mess to chase those kernels that got away around the driveway).

So, it was just me, 3M, a fine file, the band saw, some anti-scuff tape for the cuts. Here's the end result...BTW, I had previous trim problems and didn't want to drill holes in the tail gate.
However, the stock chrome center piece needed to be screwed on for various reasons.

This is all pre-paint. So, the mock up is done. Maybe for a few years. The SS strips are on there rock-solid with two runs of 3M 7/8" double stick trim tape.
