Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Yep, some of it is hard to get to to weld it. The gas tank is right behind it also. I told the wife maybe it will catch on fire and make a crispy critter out of it..... Only problem is I cancelled the full coverage insurance on it a while back. LockDoc

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Been busy, we got the stem walls done, I added another 20' of culvert to the driveway. Picked up a windmill and stand and two gas pumps.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Big progress on the house. I have always loved the idea of a windmill to pump well water. Old school way that never stopped making great sense

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I finished up a job Monday just as rain showers came up, so couldn't haul my tools home in the open pickup. That gave me a slack day of loading, hauling, and unloading tools in the morning. I decided to knock out a railing on the back platform (deck) on my barn using left over materials. This is literally against the property line in the far back lower corner and directly in front of the neighbor's house. They see it all the time. I hardly ever go back there. I always liked old places with shutters that had cut-outs of a tree, squirrel, star, etc, and decided to do pine trees to give it a chalet look up under their big spruce trees

That's a neat touch. And very sturdy built.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
A massive look, isn't it? I didn't have any 4x4 but I had all these cut-offs of 2x8. Well, that oughta be strong enough . This is the junk end of my property and lately I've given it some attention. Starting off I poured a slab between the building and fence when I built the barn. There was no door and I took things up a ladder. Then I built the platform and stairs that were full width maybe 20 years ago. About 15 years ago I put leftover metal roofing under the deck to make it somewhat dry under there. Then I got the idea close it in on the end and front of deck, so I narrowed the steps. It's another under cover parts stash area now. Leaves funnel back into there in the fall and it's a PIA to clear that out. So, recently I took a scrap of pressure treated plywood and cut risers on the steps. That leaves just the slot I pass through, but leaves will still blow back in there. yesterday, I also built a cover that lays over that slot out of 2x2 and an extra piece of green corrugated fiberglass that rests on the edge of the steps. That will be hinged up top, so I can lift and prop it up when I need to get back in there. I know, might be a lot to follow. I'll get a picture of that.
I'm going to take that foam arched thing off and do something creative in the gable to go with the chalet theme

Dang that looks good. I wish that I had half your talent.
It gives me ideas of putting a deck on my barn.

That pretty much sums up being able to fix anything in today's keyboard/cell phone world. My wife believes I can repair darn near anything that wears out or breaks around the home and cars.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I drove over to Moncton, NB to the Indian Motorcycle dealer to have them sort out some electrical stuff that is outside my scope of expertise on my 2012 Chief. Stayed over night . It seems there was a Shania Twain Concert in town. As I am happily married and old but not blind, I wanted to advise you young men that it appeared there were an inordinate number of unescorted young ladies headed to the concert. So if you see she's in town buy a ticket! I'm just sayin..... In other news... my daughter and grandson are arriving from New Zealand tomorrow for a month. Grampy has dozens of exercises to spoil the HE double Hockey stick out of him!

Thank you my friend. I am home for now! I for some reason thought you were closer to Halifax, or I would have asked.

What is the stack of wood in the center? Joists? It looks like you have quite a span for that sub floor.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I sold my Wrangler and my black Corvette today. Thinning down the herd.
I actually didn't sell the Vette. I swapped it for my new flooring and a lot of other work. I had run up quite a tab with the contractor and I knew he wanted that car bad, and I didn't want to write him a check just as bad. Everybody's happy. He got a Corvette and I got a free floor. Next on the chopping block is the dually and the T Bird. I've got to make some room and I hadn't driven that car in 2 years and the Wrangler was not as nice as my Gladiator and I didn't need 2 so it's on it's way to Arizona.

Finished up repairing the wife's '05 Buick yesterday so she is happy again. We still need to find a replacement. It still looks good but it has 250,000 miles on it and it's rusty underneath. LockDoc

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
I watch one of those Saturday/Sunday half hour car shows and one of the advertisers is a company that sprays this oil undercoating thats supposed to stop the rust from the winter roads. I figured this was a big thing, but maybe not?

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
i know it is around here.the D.O.T pours salt on the roads(i'm guilty,i drove one of the trucks for years)now they've added salt water brine to the roads.on a quiet night, you can here the cars rotting away.it's terrble but people are spoiled, they want to drive in January like it's June,no common sense so depending on the road or highway, the supers would say to the drivers on the highway to the airport for example where i looked after it,make that road black so we would, pouring ton after ton of salt on it for 12 hours.i'd jump out and another guy would climb in and do the same.there are 2 big national undercoating outfits here that spray an oily solution under cars, inside doors and quarter panels, anywhere there's a hole or they'll make holes and plug them, both very good and you can buy their products in spray cans at the auto parts stores.i always have some around and if a see a place to spray it,i do.can't hurt.some people save used motor oil and spray the bottoms of cars.i've had 3 people in the last few months bring me 2010 or so chevy trucks with the frames rotten wanting repairs.i've chased them away.not worth fooling with.junk.

Went to a fish fry with some new friends down by the river. Was a great afternoon, which reminds me to finish up my boat repairs so I can go fishing too!
