Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....
Thanks Flips, I am nowhere near giving up.
I have decided this build is my retirement gift to myself, since I will finish it just in time to walk across that stage wearing my dress uniform for the last time.... Gotta work this weekend, so probably not much if any updates for me this week.

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....
Well guys, even though I had to work a full day yesterday, and today I began with going over our ATV to fix why it wasn't starting.... I still got some stuff done on my build.
Just to put it close to home... This was the engine on 29 April when I got the engine stand assembled and got it mounted on there. This is it today after I got done. I have the dizzy set in there, but I am pretty sure it isnt timed right. I looked at some videos on how to do it, and for the most part I think was doing Ok. But you know that nagging feeling that is never wrong? Yep, got it. So it is not tightened down yet at all, I may dink around with it more but I am pretty sure I wont be satisfied until I can get someone who knows what they are doing over here to help me. I have decided that I want a shorter dip stick too, that one is for all the emmissions stuff that was on the engine, and now just looks silly long. The intake manifold is on and torqued down, but the carb is just sitting up there. I need to get the mounting bolts. I also need a longer fan belt for the PS pump, this one is the 3 port for the hydroboost and the wheel is larger, as well as the mounting bracket. Otherwise it was a productive day... time to wash up for dinner now.

mcmurphy, that motor looks great and will look great sitting in that engine bay! what year hydroboost pump is that? i was thinking of getting one from the parts store since they are the same price! the bracket next to the fuel pump between the timing cover, you can take that off if you want, thats for the smog stuff!

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....
Thanks Joe, maybe next time you are up this way you can pop by and help me set that distributor in there right eh?
I have beer..... Thank you.... I think. Guess I never thought of it, but I enjoy doing purty Thank you Mark, I appreciate your taking the time to look. Hate to take you away from all the cool upgrades you keep doing to your rig! Thank you Sir. Quote:
thanks Flips, yours will be on the road sooner than mine though, and looking super good !!! Quote:

Right now the priority has shifted from the small tinkering stuff to the things that I need to open the garage doors to do, like moving large parts in and out. That is because the winters up here are so unforgiving. None the less, I am pretty sure I can have some photos up this weekend for you. As I have said before, there is alot of stuff I have been doing behind the scenes that will come into play when the real assembly stage starts. Next week I hope to be dropping off both the front cross members having them professionally combined for the disc brakes. I decided that was not a task I was willing to tackle just yet. Well, more to follow.... Thanks for looking guys !!

Been trying to keep it to the black and silver/grey motif, with little hints of the red, just to spice it up some. I guess I do purty ..... LOL Quote:
I started to dispair that I would ever get all this stuff back on the truck and the truck on the road... So I popped open a beer and stopped thinking about it!!! I may have also changed my mind about tackling my front crossmember project..... LOL more to follow !!!

I am trying to wait until I have something done, or at least a stage of it done before posting photos, otherwise someone reading this thread would get lost or bored I think.... Thanks Kevin, been trying to keep up with you! Quote:
Wow Dino, thanks a ton for taking a look! The work you are doing is awesome. Maybe one day I can do that good, might be a while yet though... LOL. So this past week I worked on my seat belts, since I got the adapter "feet" done for my seat I figured the belts would be a logical next step. Still looking for a T5 transmission, otherwise I am about ready to finalize my cab floor. Got a Herculiner kit today even. One thing I do like is shoulder belts, so I did this little install... The side of a milk carton is perfect for making a template like this. With the template guide, I drilled my anchor bolt hole, and a pair of slits for me to weld the base into place. Then I drilled the anchor bolt hole and slid the anchor base up into the space between the inner and outer cab walls and used a bolt to hold the base in place while I welded it in. Attachment 953316 Weld grindage... Attachment 953317 .... and the ever lovin' bondo...

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....
For some reason I goobered the order of the photos in that post, but I bet you get the idea...
And this is the finished anchor install: Just a matter of getting the seat recovered, and adapting the seatbelt retractor/base to the cab floor, and that part will be done. Or so they say......

Re: Not Another Rebuild Thread....
And I finished up my fresh air intake grille...
Started with placement of some speed nut studs I harvested from the donor rig... Then some not so pretty welding ensued... Then paint, because I am all about the paint !! And Taa-Daa... now leaves and big bug parts wont collect in my fresh air baffles.
