Re: My 86 build
since today was the nicest day we've had in forever, I did S.F.A!....well I did spend a couple hours polishing wheels, and managed to drill 4 holes to mount the battery box.....sorry it was almost dark when I snapped the pics.

Think ALL of the non-diesel 73-87 trucks should get an LS motor!!!

Re: My 86 build
I've been feeling a slight vibration when I'm driving, thought it might have been my pinion angle out of whack, but upon closer inspection it looks like the rubber in the hanger bering is shot!

Re: My 86 build
Unless you're looking to meet local emissions laws (if you have them), then the E-Rod is kind of overkill as far as all it comes with... I went with a whole set-up from Mast Motorsports since I didn't need the exhaust with the cat's along with a few other items I didn't require. Or you can just go the cheaper route & get you a pull-out motor with the ECM & pedal assembly - their soooooo easy to find these days!!!

Re: My 86 build
Even if you found an older LQ4 or LQ9 6.0L & ended up carb'ing it rather than retaining EFI it's far & away better than any of the older small blocks! But EFI will get you better mileage & drivability in the end, so I'd keep it if feasible. Looking forward to seeing what you end up with - just try not to get carried away like I did....

...need to get a new gastank ordered in soon.....going with a 25 gal. blazer tank for the rear to replace the side-mounted tank I have now, before I punch a hole in it!

Re: My 86 build
Check out the tank that Performance Online carries - it's pretty sweet! Only 19 gallons, but still pretty good.
http://www.performanceonline.com/197...ILL-AGT7387-B/ I had an almost 40 gallon tank custom built for mine that sits between the frame rails & goes up over the rear axle - used a stock Blazer fuel door for it.

Re: My 86 build
Kinda depends on the bed length - they came in 16 & 20 gallon versions - the rear mounts are usually 25 gallons. I just never cared for the look of the factory rear mount tanks, so I wanted something that looks better.

Re: My 86 build
that def looks better!....mine is a long bed so I'm guessing 20 gal?...I've never filled it, and with these prices I prob never will!......I've priced out a 25 gal blazer/burb tank, but I may have to check into that one tho...

Re: My 86 build
That Performance Online version is probably a lot more straight-forward & easy to install than my custom version was & don't need a fuel door added to the bedside either.... Putting one in the bed floor would be pretty easy to do.
