Project truck dream 65"

Transmission polished,first pic...4:30 today when I put the buffing wheel down for the last time.

3 days to complete this project...., I will never do this again.To much work for the 3" or 4" that you see at the firewall,however Im glad I did it(and atleast its not painted) !!!

The $150.00 I saved in paint/primer will now go towards a new deep finned aluminum trans pan .

I brought it back inside to my parts room tonight.The pics dont do it much justice here but I think you all get the idea.Its purdy!

Man that is looking good. Sand and polish the trans HA HA makes you want to do that again huh.. maybe a slab side shovel this time . Have been driving mine .. LOL but really too bust to drive it much working all the time.

The trans is looking great, man. That's a ton of work for something most people will never see.

I'll chime in on the paint thing. Regular paint is not an insulator and will not hold heat in. Just touch anything that is painted and gets hot. If it's hot then the heat is escaping. I'd watch out for any paint that says it contains ceramic such as exhaust paint that reduces the amount of heat that escapes. I'm just using some of the
$.02 that I've been building up.

Thanks for the kind words ! Always appreciate feedback.Beware of any paint on a transmission surface...thats advise that came from 2 top builders of 30 plus years,that's why I polished mine.

very nice build, im writing because i noticed you had a washer/wiper button on your dash. if you can, will you send pics of the nozzle. i have a 65 stepper, but didnt come with washer. i been kicking the idea of adding the correct system to my truck. i can get the parts, but dont know what the nozzles look like or how it attaches, if you can help that would be AWESOME!!!!

I stopped buy the machine shop after work today ! It was an early Christmas for me ! Can you tell ?

I was talked into the polished oil pan and glad for it.The intake sets things off well...just cant wait to get my rockers in so I can bolt on the valve covers and wire looms,serp system,distributer.........etc !

I decide to go with a rebuilt Eldelbrock 750cfm.Not sure what Im going with for an air cleaner yet,but Im gettin close.

I decided to go with a heavy tin timing cover because of its strength as it's built from a heavier gauge metal that does not leak.From past experience,the chrome and aluminum covers are not all that visable and are to tough to clean anyway.

So here is the engine sprayed in Endura primer and Endura black top coat.It looks better that I thought being that this finish is more for an industrial application.


Endura is a hard plastic thats bulletproof,has an extreme high gloss finish and a long life that will easily outlast me !

I can always tell when a custom bike builder builds a 4 wheeled vehicle because the attention to detail and the fit and finish is impeccable. When you build a bike, you can't skimp on the details because everything is visible to the eye, and that's exactly the same mindset you have on your truck. I dig this kind of stuff!

Your right ! I know for sure I have gone overboard on alot of work,but I guess in the end I know I will have covered everything I wanted to do and Ill be able to sleep at night......I hope

Picked up my shift linkage kit today,I was itchen to post something tonight so I suppose this will be it !

This seems to be the kit of choice from what I've seen out there.Everything you would need to tie the column to the tansmission is all here.I could have made this from odds and ends ....,but still not for the price paid over the counter.

are you looking for the paint dividing trim or the sail panels, cuz i know where some nice sail panels are and cheap, but not the kind that accepts the sail panels
