Semper fi, Leon. Great thread, both you and Walter.

I, too, found a friend in the start of my build. I could do body work but the learning curve would be a race to the grave, so I found a board member and took the chance. Dang if he didn't do a great job and turned out to be a friend.

You also just solved a problem. I was thinking a LS1 + T-56 might not fit under a 65 tunnel, but looking at your first cab/low hump fit, I'm pretty sure it will.

Keep posting progress.

Dave.

Wow! Thanks Dave! I wish you all the best. Let me tell you this is one of my favorite things about this build....everything you mentioned. And a blast to drive!

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

Not too long after seeing Leon's truck in an O'Reilly's parking lot when I was driving my own '72, my own truck needed an engine swap - I'm going with a 4.8, but I'll definitely have to review this thread for some tips I can use!

(Another weird coincidence - I didn't realize you were also into BMWs. My usual driver is a '97 328.)

wow! how amazing - the 4.8 is nothing to sneeze at. There is an article showing a junkyard 4.8 was boosted to 1200 HP without breaking and small bolt-ons with stock internals

cool coincidence on the BMWs - yes, I have had a total of about 11 over the last few years. If you have any questions, let me know

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

I just came from Auto Metal Direct. What an awesome facility! I wanted to get a new part for Dianah (driver side fender). The showroom is really nice. As I have told you throughout this thread, their parts are top notch, and local.

If you need any parts, call them... 866-591-8309. The gentleman that helped me is Jeff. Great guy!

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

I have a couple questions, you mentioned something about needing a wilwood slave cylinder?
Did you do anything with the reverse solenoid or does the computer still control it?
Do you paint everything with a spray can?
You mentioned having a "4-link" but I only see 2 lower bars. Do you have a better picture of the rear suspension?
curious how you ran the other bars.
Thanks,
Great job, truck looks great

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

Wassup Leon!!! Thanks for posting such an informative build thread,I'm not on fb,so it's great to be able to see this awesome truck take shape!! I am currently working on a 69 swb gmc, 350, 4 speed Muncie.. I also have an 82 lwb chevy that's about 80% complete.. After viewing your build, the 82 will be riding "shop truck" daily driver for a min!! I must start on the 69!! I'm in Florence, SC so we are not too far apart. Maybe, I'll get to see DD at the annual run to the sun in myrtle beach in March!! Take care man!!

LOL! Thank you! Need to get my truck out in Hawaii

Small Update: I ordered some CPP Tubular control arms today.
Going to order PB Hood Hinges. I think you see the 20x10s stuffed in there. Going to make provisions to go wider since I did the tubs (20x12 or 13) in preparation for the turbo.

CPP arms finally came in. Going to install today, along with new outers, inners, idler and pitman arms. Then back to the alignment shop. The CPP pieces look amazing!

It has been awhile since we have talked, I hope you are doing well.
I have made significant progress as of late.
Technically all I have to do is wire the ignition switch and I can start the engine, but there are still some other small things that need to be done before I can drive it.
