Where are you having it dipped? I've thought about that for my 55 Pickup (when I get back to it). It will be great to work with clean, rust free metal!

Metal Finishing Services in Jackson MS is the closest dipper to us in Memphis. They will also arrange for the shell to be E-coated right after dipping at another shop near Canton MS.

I have a call into them to get a quote, but it would be very nice to know all my hard work wont get ruined with rust bubbles 3 years after I'm done!

Bad news, the place in Jackson has stopped their services. Back to square 1

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super

I looked into the Jackson operation several years ago - stopped by there and it was impressive. There is a shop in Louisiana that also does dipping, I can't remember the name. I will look and see if I have a name/phone number later today.

There is a place in Jackson, MS....but that might be a haul for you. I think it is actually associated with the Nissan dealer. Have to ask my friend.

Got a couple of pics of Sarah banging out some metal for the bride. She loves the new plasma cutter!

I was thinking the same thing. Especially since I "welded off" a big chunk off my hippy hair lying while under my 70.

Drew, It is cool to see your daughter so involved and excited with the project!

Nice progress on the Buick Drewski and Biz. It's cool you have your family involved with the project.
Digging the new sandblast cabinet too.

Still coming apart times 2! It's kinda cool that the dash completely unbolts from the car. It is also kind of nice that you know if it won't come loose, there has to be a bolt or screw holding it. No sneaky hidden or trick fasteners designed yet in 57. No prying needed, just look behind for the bolt!

I agree completely and I HAD to have the Super or Roadmaster.

Not a fan of the Special and the 3 piece rear glass.

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super

Saturday night picture time!

This week I power washed/blasted the body shell of all dirt, mud, rust scale, etc. and am getting ready for rust treatment.

Today I started cutting up a partially crushed fender to make patches. First patch is actually a reinforcing bracket to make sure the newly radiused frame rail clearancing will stay put and not oilcan down and hit the modified frame rails. (detailed earlier)

Next was bead blasting some floor patch panels - readying them for installation. I'll need to also rust treat them before welding them in. Maybe tomorrow.

Is this one of those deals where you're driving the car in your final reveal video and then you go "wait what's that sticking out of the hood? Hmm that's weird, one of those cars we parted out must have had a supercharged 426 hemi!!!"

Haha just kidding! Looking good on the progress!
