Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"
Looks good Mike. There are only 4 visible cab seams that I can think of. The rocker to cab corner below the door on both sides, but you need to carry this one thru the door jamb to make it look right. And the short one above the windsheild near the upper outter corners in the "visor" section that leads up on over the drip rail of the roof.
There are also a couple more in the door jam that can be done too. I did those on my "65 back in the '90's and that was a lot of work but looked realy good, and the hood seam that you already mentioned is a nice touch since you are smoothing the bed seams. Doing the drip rail removal like in the pics above is a ton of work. Not sure it looks right to me. That one is a mod that you as the owner have to like to be happy with...

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"
Nice work Mike!
I did similar on my box, Then sandblasted all of the primer from the seams and used SEM panel adhesive that is used for glueing van-sides on (flexible) to fill the seams. It is a sandable adhesive that was a bit pricey, but was easy to work with...It has a cure time of around 2 hours and flowed out like butter. hardly had to sand it! Also, on another note, I used 67-72 wheel tubs for my box, because they are taller they will allow more drop. Just my observation...

BTW, I think that those are some damn-ugly mirrors in those photos. LOL!
Who does all of that work to smooth out the drip-rail the bolts on big, gaudy mirrors? IMO.

Laughing here at all you guys commenting.
I actually had a set of large, modern, multi adjustable mirrors that I traded for a folded metal glove box inner, because I will be towing my teardrop trailer, and need good rearward visibility........ Put them on EBay last night, as I have opted for rectangular stainless units in stead, though I would love to have none, or mini peep mirrors. The truck looks beautiful though.

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"
I am guessing you, mean the ones I have on EBay?
The ones I am fitting were from LMC/Top Banana/Whoever.... And are just standard replacement units in Stainless, I kept the standard steel stalks, wanting to paint them black, but may just order some stainless units. You have PM inbound.

Sherms in Sacramento is one of the best chrome shops in the country. They have plated many ridler cars. They are expensive but they are second to none

as I was working on my bed seams last night I got distracted by something shiny....A.D.D. ........
I am going to widen these LMC Truck fenders 4 inches I didn't want to have 2 seams to weld up on them so I am cutting 4 inches off of the old tubs and welding them on...now only 1 seam ! |

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"
Mike,
Just a small piece of advice when welding your tubs... My first one didn't turn out so well, because I didn't really have a plan of attack for welding. on the second tub however, I spot welded it at approximately 1.5" spacing, then let it cool, then welded right next to the previous spots in succession and let it cool, then welded next to the previous spots, and repeated until there was no areas un-welded. I had virtually no warpage with this technique! and I added in a section in order to widen mine, so I had two seams. The second tub was a slower process, but a lot less (almost none) hammer & dolly work to do in order to make it look good!

Depending on your time frame for certain jobs on the build, this thread, or possibly the builder may have some good advice to give. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=564201 I am only on page 7 reading now, and everything he says makes a load of sense. Also has loads of pics and close ups of his welding techniques, around page 5 is very useful for longer curved work. Hope that helps.

For the less knowledgable here...can you explain why you cut the tubs like that...instead of a straight line? Keep up the good work guy!

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"
the tubs actually have an indented part like that on the top edge, so to get rid of the indented area there you have to come over a little further in that area
