Re: My 86 build

...did some more work on the bed floor today, I had to take the pass side off and do a little trimming to get it to fit perfect, also got the headboard nice and tight and welded it on. I have a few more holes to drill and I'll have to get some longer bolts tomorrow. and still have to finish up arond the back panel and tailgate...

Great build man! questins for ya. how hard was it to cut off your rear axle perces and re weld them on and than find the pinion angle? i'm thinking about doing my own home made rear flip...

Re: My 86 build

I had to use a 4 1/2" grinder with a cut-off wheel, it was a ***** because its hard to get at, but a plasma would be way easier...on the pinion angle I just got it close to where I thought it looked in line with the driveshaft, and welded the perches back on...it was pretty close, but if you can get a hold of an angle gauge its more accurate. I didnt really care because I knew that I was gonna link it. might I suggest that you go to the auto parts or trailer store and buy a new set of spring perches. its a lot less work!

You don't need to cut them off for a flip kit. I have a pdf of the flip brackets if you want it. I had mine made at a steel shop.

They are for a half ton. I'll grab the file at work tomorrow for you. It's fully dimensioned, so you could measure your perch first to make sure it will work. If you use the brackets, make sure you make shock extender brackets as well.

Re: My 86 build

...getting the bed finished up....sectioned an inch out of the rear of the bedfloor and welded it back up so the tailgate would close, drilled the rest of the bolt holes and bolted the bed down, shaved the bolt heads off and welded up the holes, and welded up all the other little holes in the bed floor. still need to make a longer filler panel for the bottom rear of the bed, and remove some of the temporary braces that I had welded on, then I'll be able to lift it on and off again in one peice...
