Re: Any other projects in your garage?
That is a beautiful Corvair. I always liked the style of the first series, but I sure didn’t like working on the engines. Seemed like everyone I ever encountered either had leaks on the bottom of the engine or broken bolts that needed to be extracted.

That is a very cool truck, and a desirable list of other projects. Hardly ever see any unibody trucks compared to Chevy’s of the same year. I had a passion for bugs years ago when I could actually fit in one, and the 39 Deluxe/40 Standards were two of my all time favorites. Quote:

Re: Any other projects in your garage?
I love me some Pontiac's. That GTO is perfect!
My first car was a '72 Grand Prix and had many friends with early 70's Firebirds. I have always favored the lines of the Firebird to the Camaro.

Re: Any other projects in your garage?
I have quite an eclectic collection of crap in my garage. the sedan delivery is a 56 Pontiac, fairly rare with 1383 ever made. The red truck I've had since 1987, painted in '88. Somewhere in the rest of the junk is a 57 Bel Air Lego set and 51 Monarch. In fact the damn garage is so full the new panel has to sit out inthe snowbank.

Re: Any other projects in your garage?
I've got my first car, a 1966 VW Bug that I bought for $200 bucks when I was eight years old. It's been torn down since I was around 10 or 11 years old and it's not half finished yet. Got ripped off on the bodywork/paint before I learned how to do it so it's sat for the last 8-10 years waiting for some attention.
I'm currently working on a '55 International pickup at work, doing all of the metalwork, bodywork, and paint. I'm also slowly building a 2276cc VW engine with Weber 48 IDA carbs, knife-edged crank, all forged internals, CNC ported heads, 13:1 CR, and valve train that will be 7500 rpm+ capable that should make around 210-220 horsepower, enough to run high 11s/low 12's in a street car and still be fairly civilized for daily use. I only need a cam, pushrods, and minimal machine work to have the longblock finished. Dad has a barnfind '50 Chevy 3100 that I'll be helping with and also a '69 Ford Ranger that he wants to get back on the road in the next year. There's links in my signature to pics/build threads of my current and a couple of past projects also. Posted via Mobile Device

Well, the garage sees the GTO more than the road does at least this time of year. I dont really make a point of driving it in South Hill traffic or anything like that. I would prefer to take my chances running into a deer on a country road than to mix it up with text messaging drivers. the Last time we were out with the car I was almost rear ended and then someone flipped a u-turn right in front of me about 5 minutes later. The truck has been parked for almost two years straight but I have been driving it everyday over the last couple of months. I have been getting lots of waves from other commuters between Orting and Sumner. It is not like it blends in or anything....LOL
