Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

I found a nice used roll bar for a stepside on craigslist. Now I can make my new diamond-plate bed and put that on top of some frame brackets for the bar and I will be solid.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

changed my toilet paper oil filter,, and drove over to meet my wife for lunch.
raced some guy in a mustang, went head to head, but carb ran out of gas.
I need to put in a bigger electric fuel pump.
This one is reliable, but cant keep the carb full at wide open throttle past 3rd gear.
I have 5 gears, seven if you want to work the overdrive and shift a bunch.

That panel looks really sharp! Is that aftermarket, and if so from where?

thanks,
it's not aftermarket,
I built it from scratch from flat 18 gauge steel.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

First time using the truck for a 'long' journey. Only secondary roads.
Done 240km x2 (~ 150 miles x 2) to meet friends for motorcycle riding (only XT or SR500).
Only problem has been on the way back, the radiator cap has collapse. 2l of coolant lost on the road.
Average consumption has been 16L/100km -> 14.7 US mpg

I haven't actually touched my truck for a while but my Street Demon carb that I ordered from Summit yesterday showed up at my door this morning.

Drove down to register my truck for "Back to the Fifties" car show this weekend at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. I was number 11,162. Over 11,000 pre-registered cars and trucks, pre 1964. Should be a great time, hope to see some of you there.

Installed a tachometer. Bracket from LMC, used an existing hole, ran a #10-32 tap thru it, nice little electric tach off of eBay. Wired it up and away ya go!

Must have been an electrical weekend for a few of us.

Wired in a the new tachometer and voltmeter this weekend. It is nice knowing what the motor is turning. Next weekend I will finish up the dash lights and tidy everything up.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Fit the kick panel speaker grilles to the opening, had to relieve some of the side. Scuffed them and prepped for paint to match the seats. Was going to paint this morning but had to fight the chainsaw. The gas store I have been buying my no-ethonol gas from switched to 10 percent and I did not notice. Saw sat all winter with bad gas and would not start. I had heard all the hype about Seafoam and figured it was worth a try. That stuff rocks. Mixed it the Seafoam 50/50 with a quarter tank gas/oil mix. Put some directly down the carb throat. Primed the heck out of it and gave it a dozen pulls thinking it would get pulled into the carb. Let it set for a few hours, went out and it started on the fourth pull, smoked like crazy for a few seconds and now runs fine. Going to add a little to all the other small engines I have to clean them out.

did a DIY home rear end alignment this evening. The Vette rear has been in there since 2011, no need to rush into anything.
