Played with the sandblaster today. I started out with sand it worked great except some little rocks kept clogging the nozzle. The bag said screened, but needs to be screened a little smaller. After about 20 clogs I swapped over to the black diamond thinking this will be great. I guess the tip of the deadman valve isn't big enough for it to pass thru easily. It was more frustrating than the sand. I think if I can rescreen the sand it will work great. Yes I am wearing a respirator. Got this much done with sand. It had already been blasted, but sitting for a while with no protection. The lower right hand corner and some of the cross brace is all I got done with the black diamond. Here is how much material I used to do that. The black diamond is obvious. The regular sand on top is what I sprayed out. The pile on bottom is what I poured out when I switched over to the black. I plan on reusing it after I run it thru a screen.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
i always screen mine first just to make sure unless im using glass bead. you can recover that sand about 3 times but after that it will be to fine to deal with. I cut my recoverd with fresh sand somtimes to make it cut better.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
I got a great deal on a 8X10 small spray booth with a ventilation fan and ducts. It was FREE. The guy said he was moving his business the next day, and it had to be gone or it would be trashed. So I immediately went down and got it. As soon as I can afford to pour a concrete slab I'll put it up. I plan on using it for sandblasting parts too big for the sand blast cabinet.
The slab I want will go here, but want it 18X40 and will cover it with a car port to do the messy body work and not screw up the shop. All I need now is $$$$ to finish it, and time.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
This has been a reoccurring thought subject and thought for me.
For those of you sandblasting in your garages and whatnot; have you thought about building a cleanroom out of 2x4's? You'd need 8 or 12 if you wanted to seal the bottom Buld a cube and get some clear drop cloths from wherever. You could use it over and over again and keep the sand out of everything. thoughts?

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic
NO SH*T. And small kids. You should see the motor that runs it. I don't think I'll install the fan, unless I start using as a spray booth. I have the filters and everything that came with it.

Our porter doesn't know how to operate a broom. It's a sad situation. Sifted the sand and black diamond and mixed it together. It worked like a champ. until I ran out of sand. This is a mean little stripper. I figured I'd try it on the bed cross braces since they are covered with undercoating or something similiar. It takes longer to blast these items. In the pic you can see the left side was the sand blaster and the right was the wire wheel. The wire wheel didn't do crap. Primed tailgate Almost got the Tailgate blocked today Posting more in a minute
