Looking Good man! I used that foam tape for years. 3m makes a tape called transitional tape. You have to try it if you like the foam you will love this stuff makes nice and clean edges. Keep up the hard work...it's paying off!

Thanks Clem! The biggest bonus of posting all of this is for people to see that our builds are not just nice on the surface. Some of these builds get pretty deep!

Finally!!!
Between weather conditions, and life getting in the way, we sprayed the roof!
And it looks AMAZING! I am so excited!
I know, I know. Now I have a whole bunch more work to prep the outside of the front-half of the truck. But seeing a shiny surface on the exterior makes me want to work twice as hard to get to the finish!

Patiently waiting for more Modge-Gyver painting magic. Looking really nice.. What brand of paint and clear are you using..and when you masked the foam tape in the door jambs is it laying flat or does it follow the contour.

beautiful job on the paintwork. i dig the foam tape too and it comes is several diameters for different gaps, really gives a soft edge.

I watch your build religiously, and can honestly say that you will probably out-do me on paint-work!
I don't paint, and it took me forever for me to prep this!
But hey, like I always say: Paint is 90% prep work, and almost anybody can blow it on!...JK!!!

I don't believe any of that CRAP for 1 minute!!!
I have spent well over a YEAR prepping this thing for paint!!!
Look at all of the stuff that you have done in that same year!!!
I have done absolutely everything leading up to paint, except actually holding onto the paint gun and spraying the paint.
I was kinda guestimating... you know, with calculus & stuff, and determined that I have well over 600 hours into getting the body to this stage!
I don't claim to be fast at this, but I am sure that if you put as much effort into this, as you do for everything else that you have done, all will be awesome!

You know, a few of my buddies refer to me as Modge-Gyver, that's funny!!!
All Dupont Chromabase on exterior surfaces!
The foam tape is like a rope with adhesive on about a quarter of the diameter, it locks off the jamb from overspray, and doesn't leave a definitive tape line.

I haven't opened the doors yet, but I can see that there is no tape line, and it will look really clean!

The foam tape blocks off the gaps in the jambs for overspray, and divert the spray for a non-existent tape-line.

I got the cab & front fenders all scuffed, scotch-brited, wiped-down, masked-off, & de-greased!
I also dropped a cool grand on paint & clear this week!
I gotta do the same for the hood & grill support, then I will be ready for some more paint action!
Just a few more pics to keep you all happy!
Next week this time, I hope to have the front-half in paint!

Ha-Ha-Ha!
The caster is wedged into the seam in the concrete to keep my cart from rollin down the apron to the garage, pretty ingenious, eh?
That's actually an entire '69 X-11 car. My buddies so-called project car.
A shame, I actually parked it there over 20 years ago, under it's own power...He hasn't touched it since, and won't sell it. I tried to purchase it before I bought my truck....I think maybe that the idea hit too close to home for him, and he didn't want for me to restore it, then end-up painting it for me.
