Haven't commented in a while, so I figured I would echo what everyone else keeps saying, awesome build. Loving every thing you're doing and enjoying seeing it come together.

Awesome build Eric, is your truck the 518 medium green. Something about the green trucks that when the paint fades on them just looks awesome.

Looks awesome! Do they powdercoat it fully assembled or do they do it in pieces?

Re: Cheap trick patina 70

Gas tank coming sorry been super busy. I change the nuts out to lock washer and regular nuts so that I can powder coat it together. This is why I prebuild everything so when I get it back from the coater everything is in the right place and I don't have to pull things apart.

I really like how the bolts look all black like the rest of the frame but Doesn't that leave some of the parts un coated and exposed?

No it leaves the two surfaces that are bolted together U coated but powder is thick and it seals it off. I have never had a problem doing this way. The coated puts two coats on so it works out great.

Re: Cheap trick patina 70

You can see the vent in the same place on both sides of the tanks.

Man that thing is looking awesome! Thanks for the tank vent pics. When you install it I'd like to see how you run the lines through the cab and out the floor. Must be some type of baffle in front of each of those huh?

2nd! I just checked and my 69 tank doesn't have either of these vents. I'll have to see if I can find one or just tap a couple in on mine. What year did you say your tank is again?

Mine is out of a 70 short bed. What ever you do don't try to tap it the metal is to thin and it will not work. You need to weld in a bung also do not try to jb weld it that wont work. Ask me how I know this lol

Re: Cheap trick patina 70

I don't know on the baffle. I bet they don't have a baffle. I bet they put them way up on top so they are less likely to get gas in the lines. The lines are above the filler necks lowest point. So has will have a tough time splashing up there. Some one on the board probly knows if there is baffles.

Re: Cheap trick patina 70

According to the Napa website the part number for the gas cap changed in '71, I'm guessing to a non-vented version because of the tank vents.
